GENERAL SUMMARY

Plan and direct Energy Northwest’s (EN) budgeting operations, including the Annual Budget process and submission of budget documents to Senior Management, Participant Review Boards and EN’s Executive Board for approval.

Plan and direct the process for issuing of the internal management reporting, including monthly department variance analysis, monthly financial review presentations to CEO and Vice Presidents, monthly financial reports to EN’s Executive Board, ad hoc daily reporting to support Outages, and quarterly reporting to Packwood and Nine Canyon Participants.

Assist in developing continuous operational improvements to support performance goals set forth by Columbia Generating Station (CGS), Energy/Business Services (E/BS), and overall Corporate Performance.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead and supervise the activities of the Budgeting organization through the following: (1) operate the organization within budget limitations; report and explain variances; (2) develop and implement a strategy for maximizing organizational efficiency and decreasing costs to meet organizational objectives and achieve continuous improvement; (3) prepare performance objectives for subordinates and advise subordinates in the more complex phases of their work; (4) provide effective feedback and coaching; (5) create a climate of continual learning and personal development; (6) resolve personnel problems; facilitate conflict resolution; and (7) coordinate the activities of the organization with other areas of the company.

Supervise the monthly and annual financial process to measure EN and its business units (CGS, Units 1 and 3, Nine Canyon, Packwood, Business Development and the General Business Unit (Corporate)) success towards budget objectives and lead the identification of corrective actions for recovery plans. This includes: (1) directing the financial variance analysis for departments and projects and committed cost tracking process; (2) supervise and lead the monthly process preparing and presenting the CEO financial review presentations and preparing the Executive Board monthly financial reports and quarterly presentations; and (3) establish, implement and monitor financial and other performance indicators to direct process improvement, and implement strategic initiatives.

Supervise the overall EN budgeting process for its business units (CGS, Units 1 and 3, Nine Canyon, Packwood, Business Development and the General Business Unit (Corporate)). This includes: (1) developing the EN Annual Budget Call Letter and establishing the overall Budget completion milestones; (2) direct creation of business unit specific Budget Call Letters and completion milestones; (3) direct the budget development by providing budget targets based on actual costs, variances to previous budgets and comparison to industry standards; (4) supervise the development of the EN Annual Budget Book and Board Workshop presentations; (5) lead the process to receive final budget approval from the Executive Board for all business units, Packwood and Nine Canyon Participants and BPA Non-Disapproval for CGS and Units 1 and 3.

Conduct special studies/projects as assigned

Must participate on the Emergency Response team (ERO) when designated & biennial refueling outage.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university and six or more years of experience in a financial organization or project controls organization of a large company or operating component of a large company (over 100 employees); in lieu of degree, an additional three years of related experience is required. Must demonstrate record of continual learning and training. High School Diploma or GED required.

Pay Range

$136,961.00 - $205,441.00 Annual

Midpoint:

$171,201.00

Typically, selected candidates are hired between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience and qualifications, market rate, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.

Offers will be negotiated based on each candidate's qualifications.

Incentive Compensation

This role may be eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan. Incentives are earned based on employee performance against defined metrics and company goals.
