Become a Transmission Sr. Superintendent Supervisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will support the Eastern Grid within the Transmission Substation and Operations (TS&O) division. The Sr. Superintendent Supervisor will lead multiple electrical crews and serve as a key resource to preparing and implementing detailed construction plans, inspecting in progress and completed work, establishing and coordinating schedules and outages on a number of diverse grid transmission projects, and providing technical support. You will also ensure that all aspects directly related to Transmission Construction and Maintenance activities are optimized, including resource utilization, workload scheduling, construction and patrol crew efficiency and safe work practices for the assigned Grid area.

The Sr. Superintendent Supervisor also supports supervisory personnel in the execution of duties, which includes working closely with the Foremen to lead the progression of groundmen and apprentices into and through the apprentice program.   • Supervises the preparation of construction documentations such as schedules, personnel estimates, outage requests, accident and incident investigations, inspection plans and reports, and personnel evaluations.

  • Supervises two Foremen with two 10-person crews.

  • May Act on behalf of the Grid Manager when that person is absent.

  • Conducts job walks and project updates on transmission construction projects with Foremen.

  • Assembles information, analyzes data and provides detailed recommendations on construction methods and strategies, long range schedules and/or training requirements.

  • Implements T&D safety policies and programs, as well as how to implement and carry out a safety program.

  • Ensures appropriate training of subordinates, including career development.

  • Coordinates recognition and discipline.

  • Collaborates with subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work activities.

  • Facilitates the availability of proper resources, tools, vehicles, materials and other equipment and vital training conducive to providing a safe working environment.

  • Mentors Foremen, Patrolmen, crew members, and continues the practical education and development of personnel by exposing them to activities, tasks and duties that will enhance their skill level, as well as build upon those skills they already possess through crew assignments and scheduling of work.

  • Conducts performance evaluations, develops performance expectations, and provides developmental feedback and training.

  • Interfaces, advises, negotiates and resolves issues and disputes with several diverse individuals and groups such as engineering, customers, clients, substation maintenance and test personnel, operations, outside suppliers, agencies and/or IBEW.

  • Assures accurate timekeeping/accounting (i.e., employee time off).

  • Performs frequent field operations and documenting safety information.

  • Assures all safety bulletin/issues are understood and creates full compliance.

  • Assures periodic safety meetings are timely and of quality content.

  • Verifies TS&O planning action accuracy with timely updates.

  • Creates and maintains a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencing others to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Four or more years in the electrical industry performing or supervising in planning, design, construction, maintenance, standards & development, system operations, field operations, engineering, or construction project management.

  • Valid driver’s license.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreement application process and the handling of labor relations and diversity issues.

  • Skills in Transmission and/or Distribution electrical construction and wiring.

  • Ability to interpret and perform inspections to specifications and drawings.

  • Experience in Transmission construction, maintenance, design, or operations.

  • Knowledge of environmental compliance, safe work practices, construction/ maintenance methods, techniques, tools and equipment

  • Applied O&M accounting principles, including timekeeping and completion of work order packages.

  • Experience with Transmission & Distribution standards, Operations Manuals, and the Accident Prevention Manual safety rules

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
