This position generally oversees 10-14 leaders (managers and senior managers) and oversees a regional team of approximately 200 employees in the three Distribution Design teams (District, New Business and Technical Planning) responsible for designing, managing and creating maintenance work orders, customer requests (i.e. new service connections, relocations), programmatic work including new installations, system upgrades and modifications to the electric system infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages planning leaders and teams who develop and implement the company's distribution planning strategy and improvement initiatives

  • Manages and coordinates activities to ensure project compliance with both external and internal standards, policies, rates, rules, as well as ensuring project operating dates and or compliance due dates are actively monitored and met

  • Partner with cross functional organizations to proactively address internal/external customer concerns and ensure consistent customer timeframes and communication are established/maintained

  • Develops and drives the company's planning strategy, communication, and consistency, while supporting performance management and resource forecasting

  • Defines, measures and reports on key metrics aligned with the enterprise short-term and long-term business strategy

  • Defines the scope and operational requirements for preparation of preliminary electrical and civil design including necessary permits, environmental requirements, and coordination for eventual construction

  • Drives safety culture, work environment and diversity, equity, and inclusion advancement

  • Oversees the management of workloads to meet established timelines of contract preparation and planner design times

  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.

  • Experience in Electrical Utility Distribution Design, Transmission Design or Distribution Line construction.

  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Engineering, Information Technology or related field.

  • Project management techniques used to make budget projections, identify, mitigate obstacles, and review and update the scope for interrelated projects.

  • Developing and implementing strategic business plans that have a large impact across organizations and prioritizing pivotal initiatives.

  • Experience in employee & public safety oversight.

  • Experience leading large, cross functional organizations, ensuring compliance with all safety, training and auditable guidelines, policies, practices, organization standards and governmental regulations.

  • Reviewing business forecasts and selecting and developing employees to fill talent gaps.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Redlands. (A planning office within the Desert San Jacinto region. Other locations within the service territory are also acceptable). However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at (alternate work location).

  • Position will require up to 60% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
