Become Senior Permitting Compliance Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be in the Technical Design department within our T&D Organizational Unit. This person will be regularly communicating with various governmental agencies and other external organizations to obtain favorable permit conditions for the installation of SCE facilities. You will work to Resolve Permit escalations and ensure compliance with the laws, rules, and regulations that govern how and when SCE work is performed (e.g. Government Codes, Business and Professions Codes, Street and Highways Codes, General Orders, Tariff Rules, 15, 16, 20, 131D etc .

Manage escalations to their conclusion and work with Local Public Affairs, Law, Design Support, and others as appropriate.
Resolve Permit escalated issues and ensure that the law department is involved as appropriate.
Schedule meetings with decision makers and help negotiate annual permits with the Design Permit Team.
Handle franchise related questions and or challenges to ensure we are allowed to exercise SCE’s franchise rights.
Acting as a single point of contact for internal and external questions related to permit applications; providing approved permits to appropriate project managers or construction personnel prior to start of construction.
Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
Seven or more years of experience in Permitting, Planning, Engineering, Construction, Inspection, Utility Design, and/or Project Management.
Experience identifying the need, applying for, and acquiring Construction Permits.
Experience reviewing and interpreting construction drawings, plans, maps, and/or designs.
Valid Driver’s License.
The preferred
Bachelor’s degree.
Experience working with local, regional, and/or state government agencies.
Experience with acquiring encroachment, excavation, and/or traffic control permits.
Experience collaborating with governmental agencies in order to acquire necessary construction permits.
Familiarity with electric utility operations, other utility operations, or other public works organizations operations including construction and engineering practices.
Experience working within construction timelines and with various construction personnel and clients.
Experience making formal presentations to management, local and regional government organizations, or community organizations.
Experience reporting on project status to internal and external partners.
Experience acting as the point of contact for internally and externally generated questions related to permitting compliance issues or escalations.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
You should know
This position’s work mode is *hybrid. * The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

- This position requires testing and applicants who are identified to continue through the selection process will be invited to test via email.
