Close Date: This position will remain open until filled.

Support the Property Accounting team and other staff with the monthly financial close to maintaining accurate Property Accounting records. Foster strong cross-functional relationships. Maintain our internal controls and drives process improvements. Data analytics, reporting and provide internal and external support.

SALARY RANGE: $63,700 - $95,650 (Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.)

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Property Accounting Manager

LOCATION:Rapid City, SD

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain and review accurate and timely property closures, retirements, and transfers. Comply with FERC guidelines. Assist stakeholders to remediate inconsistencies.

  • Assist internal customers, operations, and other departments, with the FERC Property Accounting rules and regulations.

  • Maintain and analyze, complete and accurate Continuing Property Records (CPR). Assist downstream stakeholders as and when needed, to remediate inconsistencies.

  • Assist with process improvement initiatives and documentation.

  • Assist in the development, documentation, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures for the Property Accounting Team

  • Ensure compliance with all controls and documentation, together with its maintenance and continuous improvement.

  • Drive, develop and improve data analytics to drive insights, improvements and reporting in accordance with sound business practices to support internal and external stakeholders.

  • Assist internal customers and other teams with adhoc analysis and special projects as needed.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in process improvements, data automation development, and other strategic initiatives.

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Minimum three (3) years in an accounting environment.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:(10 bullet points)

  • Understands how operational and financial decisions impact the financial statements, including impacts to rate making model, GAAP, FERC, SEC reporting, and internal controls. Understands risk factors and mitigation of risk.

  • Demonstrates the ability to collect, analyze, model, and interpret information to evaluate accuracy of expected results, articulate the financial implications, and enable informed decision making that considers impacts across the company.

  • Understands the energy industry, regulated utility model, and publicly traded business models.

  • Anticipates and recognizes a changing environment and adapts in a responsive and effective way.

  • Applies technical knowledge (including FERC, GAAP, and SEC guidance) to drive financial results.

  • Possesses strong drive to learn continuously and quickly, strong collaboration skills, resilience in the face of setbacks, and is open to new ideas.

  • Demonstrates concise and clear written and verbal communication skills with the ability to actively listen, adapt messaging based on audience, influence and effectively articulates thoughts to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Understands data, data mining tools (ie: Excel, Essbase, etc.) and system interfaces and applies technology solutions to job responsibilities.

  • Establishes and promotes strategic and innovative thinking to achieve common goals as a team.

  • Identify, analyze and propose solutions. Assesses risk and apply judgment and provide clarity understanding of cross-functional implications.

  • Seeks to understand, anticipate, and address needs through responsive and quality interactions while balancing the needs with the broader organizational goals.
