The intern shall report directly to their assigned mentor for the duration of the internship. The mentor shall be an engineer at Pike with the ability to develop and train the intern in the field of engineering as it relates to the scope of work performed. The internship will involve the following tasks and responsibilities:
Work directly with the project engineer to develop and understand the basic engineering fundamentals, skills and software as they relate to the power and communications work performed at Pike.
Assist project engineer with tasks to be performed utilizing PLS software for transmission design
Perform minor corrections on drawings using AutoCAD
Develop engineering design templates using MathCAD and Microsoft Excel software
Assist staff in preparation of drawing packages, work order packages and other final deliverables to clients
Assist project engineer in the progression of company engineering and CAD standards
Assist in other miscellaneous tasks as requested and as assigned by project engineer
The Intern shall be enrolled in an engineering curriculum at an ABET accredited university with the desire to pursue a career in one of the engineering disciplines.
Interpersonal Skills: Good communication skills, both verbal and written are essential. A professional demeanor and ability to build effective working relationships with diverse personalities is also necessary.
INTEGRITY: must be honest, ethical and professional in demeanor
Good sense of follow through/up with various types of assignments
Flexibility: has to be able to adapt to changes to "normal " routine as necessary to support the group
