Position Summary
The Senior Engineering Technologist position is the fourth level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role. The Senior Engineering Technologist provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems, and leadership skills to manage work in a specific area of expertise, with minimal supervision. Employees in the Senior Engineering Technologist position are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently with increased latitude for un-reviewed work. This specific role will be responsible for monitoring and managing third-party paging network infrastructure in the Carolinas and other jurisdictions as needed for the Demand Response organization. This role will frequently interface with third party vendors and internal telecom employees.
Responsibilities
Provides subject matter technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in the Demand Response organization, specifically related to third party paging infrastructure.
Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities.
Independently prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches.
Conducts engineering and related telecommunication propagation studies with EDX software.
Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance,
Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities.
Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
Maintains accurate records and files.
Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally when interacting with external parties.
Required/Basic Qualifications
Associates degree in Engineering Technology
8 years related work experience
In lieu of Associates degree(s) AND 8 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 12 year(s) related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology
In addition to desired degree, 5 years related work experience
Experience with telecom, paging network infrastructure and EDX - software
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Good written and oral communication skills.
Experience in the utility industry.
Proficient in applying principles of project management.
Working Conditions
- Field Mobility Classification – Work will be performed in various field locations, as needed, after the onboarding period. However, field employees are required to live within a reasonable daily commute to their assigned work location.
Specific Requirements
Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Either 6+ years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 8+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 12+ years equivalent experience without a degree.
