An Intern is a temporarily employed college student in an accredited four-year institution of higher learning, who is offered a work-study program designed to give college students practical work experience in their field of study. This program often helps students determine career interests. Beyond the scope of the actual tasks performed, the student becomes familiar with a corporate environment and gains practical skills and knowledge to supplement their classroom experience.

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

Gain experience and exposure to practical applications within the utility industry. Individual normally works under close supervision; performs a variety of projects that have specific instructions and expected results.

As an intern, you will be assigned to a Supervisor and/or a Coach/Mentor.

You will be assigned day-to-day tasks as well as a project that will last the duration of your assignment. The project may be a team effort or individual.

At the end of your internship, you will present to a team of company employees the results of your project and overall summary of your experience.

This position is a safety-sensitive role. Upon acceptance of a conditional offer, all individuals in safety-sensitive roles are obligated report the use of any medication that may impair their ability to perform the job in a safe manner.

In the Communications and Community Engagement the intern will support in the design, development, and deployment of communications messaging, channels of engagement, and associated activities to broaden outreach of a variety of company key topic areas, especially with key utility energy messages appropriate for the time period (bill assistance, energy investments, clean energy & climate change, etc.). Moreover, this opportunity will look to provide support, management, and coordination activities associated with the company’s community engagement and volunteering programs (Empowering Communities).

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a curriculum leading to a baccalaureate or master’s degree in communications or commuinty outreach from an accredited college or university program.

  • GPA requirement: 3.00 or higher

  • Eligible to work in the United States in accordance with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regulations.

  • Able to provide an official student transcript and other required information.

  • Able to work in a team environment.

  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.

  • Travel within the service territory may be required.

  • Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
