AltaGas - Operations, Maintenance and Project Coordinator, Terminal Operations - RIPET

AltaGas is seeking a well-rounded and experienced Coordinator for our RIPET team!

In this position, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting daily operations and maintenance activities and providing direction to the Shift Supervisors, ensuring that requirements and daily targets are achieved. Reporting to the Superintendent of Operations, you will support the shift team in the Operations and Vessel loading activities. The incumbent will be considered the subject matter expert on the facility operations and will participate in project development, leading the execution of commissioning and start-up activities in the field. The primary focus is to ensure all work is performed in alignment with AltaGas' core values of safety, collaboration, integrity, inclusion, and learning.

Please Note: This position is based in Prince Rupert, BC, and is a fly-in, fly-out position working 14 days off/14 days on rotation. Housing accommodations and a shared vehicle will be provided, but at this time this is NOT a camp-based position.

Primary Duties:

  • Support and demonstrate personal Safety leadership following AltaGas' Environment Health and Safety Program.

  • Adhere to all AltaGas' Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Practices.

  • Possess a strong understanding, participation, and support of the union/collective agreement.

  • Accountable for providing daily operating directives to achieve operations performance of rail car offloading, LPG refrigeration process, and VLGC vessel loading.

  • Accountable for prioritizing daily worker orders in Maximo, supporting maintenance planning and scheduling, and issuing daily directives for equipment LOTO and preparation are provided.

  • Owner of the Procedure, LOTO, and Carseal databases.

  • Lead calls with third-party operational service providers and communicate vessel readiness for loading and rail schedule and yard movements.

  • Lead the vetting of all VLGC vessels.

  • Support the investigation of all incidents, including the initial investigation, and take corrective measures as required.

  • Provide direction to the Shift Supervisors on training priorities. Own the development and continuous improvement of the operator training program on-site.

  • Be the primary interface and operations subject matter expert between the project team, functional asset teams, discipline subject matter experts, and site workforce.

  • Contribute to the selection, layout, and design of equipment and systems.

  • Coordinate and lead site operations resources to support the construction manager.

  • Lead the development and completion of start-up and commissioning procedures and all control of work documentation.

  • Develop pre-operations and ready-for-operations plans.

  • Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and RFO activities.

  • Report project status to the Superintendent – Terminal Operations.

  • Conduct Lessons Learned sessions to support continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; communicate effectively with various contacts (internal and external).

  • Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • Minimum high school diploma/GED equivalent required

  • Power engineering certificate of competency

Work Experience:

  • 10 years of experience in gas plant or terminal operations, with proven leadership abilities as demonstrated by your ability to plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the work of a multi-disciplinary team engaged in the operation and maintenance of the facility is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in control room operations with a preference for Delta V but experience in another operating system will be accepted.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Minimum 4th Class Power Engineering certificate. Preference will be given to those who hold a 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Passion and commitment to the training and development of the team.

  • Strong, professional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Exposure to EHS management systems and PSM systems such as Maximo and Intelex, will be considered an asset.

  • Demonstrated time management and priority-setting skills.

  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and ability to make quick and effective decisions.

  • Performs well in a team but can also work independently and with minimal direction.

  • Gas plant-specific experience is preferred, but other related experience will be considered.

  • Proven leadership capabilities demonstrated through management of various projects preferred

  • Knowledge of regulatory and jurisdictional requirements.

  • Knowledge of CSU standards and Industry practices.

  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team is required.

  • Possesses strong technical aptitude including working knowledge of computer software programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines with the ability to make timely decisions working in a dynamic environment.

Compensation:

We offer a competitive salary from $122,000 to $148,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills. In addition, we provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.

The Ridley Island Propane Export Terminal is located on Ridley Island near Prince Rupert, British Columbia, on a section of land leased by Ridley Terminals Inc. from the Prince Rupert Port Authority.
