What is a System Analyst – DMS?
The System Analyst – DMS is a member of the Operational Technology (OT) team and supports all facets of the Distribution Management System including configuration, reporting, advanced applications, patching and hotfixes. The System Analyst – DMS works closely with the DMS vendor and Distribution System Operations to ensure availability and reliability of the DMS system and supports the company’s Grid Modernization vision. Responsibilities may change as the needs of the department evolve.
The OT team provides technical and application support for Industrial Control Systems and supporting technology used to communicate with and secure these systems. Industrial Control Systems are used to monitor, control and optimize the Gas and Electric Transmission and Distribution systems. Design and support of internal communication networks are also managed by the OT team.
What does a System Analyst – DMS do?
Responsibilities include configuration, testing, analysis and operational support for all facets of the Distribution Management System, including but not limited to:
SCADA – Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition
Substation Onelines and database point mapping
DMS application specific troubleshooting
OMS Outage Management System Support
System integrations
Custom programs, reporting and scripting
GIS and Model Management end-user support
Distribution System Operations end-user support
Vendor fixes and upgrades
Application alarming and alerting
Hardware and Software system support
System hardening and cybersecurity best practices
OS and application patching
Interfaces including ICCP and internal Information Technology & Operational Technology systems
Advanced DMS application support (e.g. state estimation, FLISR and VVO, sequential controls, operator training simulators)
Implementation of policies and procedures in asset tracking, information protection, change management, security monitoring, and controls and recovery to support compliance with internal cyber security standards and NERC CIP
What does it take to be a System Analyst – DMS?
Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, STEM or a related field and relevant work experience in Information/ Operational Technology. In lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree, candidates with an Associate’s Degree and 3 years of related Information/ Operational Technology experience or a High School Diploma with 5 years of related Information/ Operational Technology experience will be considered
Experience supporting large scale software applications and projects
Windows and VMWare experience
System Administration skills-including OS patching, AV deployment, Active Directory administration
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal customers in an interactive team environment
Ability to multitask, pay close attention to detail, and adapt to a variety of support environments and assignments
Strong organizational, analytic, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Systems, STEM or a related field
Experience with system integration, including development of strategies and implementation of best practices
Technical understanding and/or working knowledge of supporting large application systems
Programming and scripting experience
Experience in Energy & Utilities or services industry
Experience with Outage Management Systems
Experience with SCADA system
Experience with Database support
Experience in Cyber Security Best Practices
Experience in a regulated and/or co-sourced environment
This position has a career path which allows for advancement opportunities within a job series. The title and level are commensurate with experience.
Pay range: $69,800 - $163,800
