What is a Business Analyst – Customer Billing?
The Customer Billing team is responsible for the accurate billing of customers. Through the Customer Information System (CIS), Customer Billing also tracks the transactions of meters. Team members work closely with many areas of the company including Customer Service, Cost & Rate, and Information Technology. Title/level is commensurate with experience.
What does a Business Analyst – Customer Billing do?
Tests and implements billing changes related to rate cases and any billing changes that may be ordered by the New York State Public Service Commission
Trains employees regarding any new billing changes
Completes data analysis related to billing issues noted, including assessing impacts, assisting with root cause analysis and proposed resolutions, and implementing changes to address
Coordinates testing process related to assigning testing, tracking progress, and providing status updates
Assists with other data analysis requests to identify opportunities for efficiency and optimization
Completes monthly and quarterly reporting (preparation and verification), as well as various tasks related to the annual reporting process
Assists internal and external auditors with questions and requests as they pertain to billing
Supports storm/emergency restoration efforts
What does it take to be a Business Analyst – Customer Billing?
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Data Analytics, STEM, or related field of study. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s degree in the aforementioned fields and related experience (data analysis, etc.)
Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the ability to learn new computer software programs quickly
Strong analytical skills, including ability to proficiently perform data analysis to assess issues and drive business resolutions
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with internal customers in an interactive team environment
Ability to work in a deadline-oriented, fast paced environment
Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask
Well-developed written/verbal communication skills
Strong documentation skills
Valid driver’s license
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Analytics, STEM or a related field of study.
SAP ISU operational business experience or experience with SAP Financial/Billing Systems
Working knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley
Experience in the regulated Utility industry
