General Purpose

This position is responsible for leading afunctional team within the larger Telecommunications department. Provide functional direction and training of telecommunications drafters, coordinate and assist support staff with completion of day-to-day drafting jobs, perform QA/QC of completed drafting jobs, and maintain telecom circuit database and drafting records.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the work of the functional group made up of Telecom drafters and support staff. Lead projects and initiatives.

  • Provide training and technical guidance to drafting staff.

  • Coordinate drafting activities between Telecom engineering and document control.

  • Coordinate and assist support staff with completion of day-to-day drafting jobs. Draft received jobs to keep up with deadlines and increased engineering workload.

  • Update and maintain drafting logs, modify as necessary to meet current needs.

  • Work with external contractors to convert Telecom Circuit database to meet current security and architecture requirements.

  • Maintain data in circuit database, add new assets as required.

  • Lead the functional team; direct day-to-day activities, and provide guidance and recommendations.

  • Provide input into team employee performance reviews. Flag performance and personnel issues for people manager resolution.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Enter fiber assets into ArcGIS and provide direct support for the fiber leasing program.

  • Perform Telecom asset lifecycle management in Remedy, maintain compliance with CSC-M3 measures

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of additional related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a Bachelor’s degree. A minimum of two years additional directly related technical experience is required.)

  • A minimum of five or more years of directly related professional experience.

  • Knowledge of engineering specifications and drawings, established drafting and design techniques

  • A minimum of 4 years of AutoCAD drafting experience.

  • Knowledge of current AutoCAD drafting technologies, tools, and software.

  • Fundamental understanding of relational databases and data management.

  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal and external customer issues.

  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.

  • A minimum of 1 year of related experience in a supervisor/hiring role.

  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance and supervision.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 12.00% of salary.
