Senior/Principal Credit and Contracts Analyst

We are adding to our Credit and Contracts team at PGE. As a Credit and Contracts Analyst, you will be responsible for contract administration and credit risk management. Administer the contract process from negotiation to post execution. Independently provide estimates of settlement amounts to provide guidance to settlements staff. Manages the approval and maintenance of vendor/counterparty credit arrangements. Onboarding. Following contract provisions. Post close maintenance. Payment calculations. Maintain a schedule of contract requirements. Work with structuring and trading personnel on new contract/business opportunities.

The Credit and Contracts Analyst will also independently calculate deal settlement amounts and support the Settlements department, perform settlement functions related to the utility industry, including power, gas, transmission, and financial swaps for power and gas. You will use your expertise in the reconciliation of all utility commodity settlements, while ensuring contract compliance is followed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Credit Risk Assessment Leveraging the analysis of others, identifies broad risks to the company and leads the development and implementation of recommended mitigation strategies; establishes and maintains department's operating plans and budgets related to specific mitigation strategies; works, leads, and/or coordinates work with outside specialists and effectively leads/teaches others how to interpret and perform complex analysis.

  • Credit Terms Provides oversight/leadership to team on negotiating credit terms with vendors and counterparties (including guarantees, letters of credit, credit support annex, etc.).

  • Enterprise Risk Management Works with executive management to design, implement and sustain an effective risk management framework and program and coordinates efforts across the organization to ensure alignment with program objectives; reports out to executive leadership and Board of Directors.

  • Risk Analysis Leads analyses and report development for companywide risk analysis assessments; leads analyses, reporting and implementation of counterparty/vendor credit review and risk mitigation (e.g., guarantees, L/Cs).

  • Regulatory Analyses Coordinates potential risk mitigation or insurance programs with legislative and regulatory interests.

  • Data Management Tools Serves as an expert resource in the organization's risk management and back office deal management tools.

  • Corporate Credit Serves as an expert resource in the organization on how to analyze credit risk and develop risk mitigation options; maintains, makes recommendations for improvement, and updates corporate credit policies, procedures and scoring matrices; trains others in credit analysis; performs credit analyses and makes recommendations to management on appropriate actions based on analysis; negotiates and prepares letters of credit.


  • At the Principal level, typically eight or more years in related field and at the Senior level, typically five or more years in a related field.

  • Education requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or other related field or equivalent experience

  • The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s applicable skills and experience.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • Functional Competencies Advanced knowledge of risk management concepts including claims, insurance and loss prevention, credit analyses and security interests. Intermediate knowledge of relevant software tools and report generator applications. Working knowledge of electrical system operations. Advanced financial modeling skills and experience using Microsoft Excel.
