Analyst will support Renewable Operations & Maintenance and Commercial Operations by providing analytical support that facilitates commercial oversight and performance management of generation assets in operation, as well as to support the evaluation of projects under development. As directed by supervisor, the Senior Operations Business Analyst will interface with local and global departments including Technical Services, Field Operations, Asset Management, Engineering, Meteorology, Generation Control Systems, and the National Control Center.

Senior Business Operations Analyst will support the manager by providing complex analytical support to facilitate commercial oversight and performance management of assets in operation. The primary job focus is operations metrics and associated financial impacts related to areas including availability, curtailment, insurance claims and environmental protocols. Position is based in Portland, OR and will be hybrid.


• Support monthly reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) including operational and financial impacts of curtailment, environmental protocols and availability reporting.

• Provide analysis and document preparation for the calculation, reporting and invoicing of lost generation assessments, including internal or external curtailments due to transmission and economics, business interruptions and / or all lost generation assessments.

• Collaborate with, and provide training to, field operations at generation facilities in collection and reporting of KPI data.

• Develop and support OSIsoft PI tags as required for compliance, reporting, or analysis purposes and analyze data sources to identify potential data quality or reliability issues.

• Facilitate resolution of data quality and/or reliability issues.

• Act as a point of contact for analytical requests at the direction of the supervisor.

• Assist with streamlining and development of analytical tools and approaches as related to areas of work including calculation tools, calculation visualization, operations displays and internal processes.

• Conduct valuation of expenditures related to operations or process improvements.

• Develop and review PPA language and administrative analytics as related to operations, reporting and meeting PPA requirements.

• Documentation of existing process and workflow for audit and business continuity purposes.

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field desired (or equivalent combination of training and experience).

• Energy experience specifically experience in renewable operations (3+ years) or the equivalent combination, which could include technical or engineering experience not directly related to energy.

• Experience and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications, with advanced skills in Excel.

• Experience with operational and financial analytics.

• Travel requirements limited to a few days per year, if any, though training and travel opportunities will arise if desired.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preference for experience in data historians such as OSIsoft PI.

• Preference for experience in scripting with languages such as C# or Python.

• Preference for experience with data visualization tools such as MicroStrategy or Power BI.

• Preference for knowledge of database data retrieval, SQL, and database administration.

• Preference for knowledge and experience with programming, particularly VBA in excel macros.

• Preference for knowledge of AGILE project management methodologies.


• Strong desire to develop technical knowledge around wind and solar commercial operations.

• Strong attention to detail and accountability for results.

• Strong problem-solving capabilities including the ability of independent diagnosis and solution and knowing the appropriate time to reach out to others for input and guidance.

• Ability to work on projects in both a collaborative and independent work environment.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing and interfacing effectively with cross-functional internal groups of all levels and competencies.

• Excellent presentation skills and ability to present analysis findings and recommendations in oral and written form to internal and external audiences.
