Purpose

The Manager, Land Lease Disbursements is responsible for managing all land payment transactions, budgeting, financial controls, and auditing for Avangrid Renewables’ Land Management department for Wind, Solar, and Thermal assets in development, construction, and commercial operations. The Manager supervises a team of analysts responsible for issuing all land-related payments including complex royalty calculations, supporting the various internal and external customers of Land Management, ensuring compliance of nearly 6,000 land agreements, and maintaining accurate records. This position reports to the Director, Land Management.

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of analysts focused on landowner and other property payments

  • Demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to develop positive relationships with landowners, ability to problem solve and positively resolve property-related disputes, and to work effectively with team members

  • Analysis of contract terms; and calculating of royalty, rental payments, and fixed assets.

  • Ensure that all land payments are issued accurately and on time.

  • Support due diligence efforts related to historical and future lease payments.

  • Lead Land Management budgeting, forecasting, and reporting duties. Support expansion of financial and business reporting program to internal clients.

  • Manage and enhance department procedures; interface with accounting teams to keep Land Management department current on accounting policies and streamline payment timelines

  • Exhibit or gain proficiency with SAP-RE payment and accounting system

  • Serve as point of contact for auditors, accounting department, and control team

  • Assist in designing and performing SOX compliance controls

  • Contact landowners to address and resolve payment issues when necessary

  • Develop materials for use in potential landowner default, audit, or litigation proceedings

  • Assist Director with reporting and presentation document for senior level leadership

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred), a related field, or a combination of education and experience.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience, including managerial or supervisory experience.

  • Direct experience managing a large-scale lease or real estate portfolio.

Skills/Abilities:

  • Understanding of or familiarity with US GAAP / IFRS.

  • Strong experience with SAP modules (SAP-RE preferred).

  • Experience with SOX financial compliance

  • Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office), including proficient use of Sharepoint, MS Team, and Excel in tracking and organizing project work.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to amicably deal with conflict.

  • Occasional travel to sites may be required. Preference May Be Given To Candidates With The Following:

  • An additional 2+ years’ experience in industry, lease administration or real estate relevant to job requirements.

  • CPA license and/or graduate business degree
