Grid & Market Operations Analyst, Settlements (R-19-2053)
Develops analytic support for operational strategies to optimize PGE’s energy portfolio and grid operations for strategic projects that include integration and optimization of energy supply and energy delivery assets. Supports financial organization goals by examining CAISO and other settlement statements for reasonableness and files disputes as warranted. You will support our journey by:
Researches market design and grid operations; analyzes trends and reports recommendations for new or changed products/strategies; follows changes to the Market rules (e.g. Energy Imbalance Market) in order to identify needed changes to PGE operational systems.
Provides operational related analyses, including interpreting operational decision impacts in the context of both financial performance and reliability, data management and information sharing; identifies and implements process improvement opportunities for grid operations in the context of market opportunities; identifies business solutions to operational changes that result from market design and enhancements.
Designs, develops and implements analytic tools and procedures to evaluate and forecast energy and transmission economic opportunities, including financial instruments and regulatory strategies; builds business logics in database and maintains database.Market and Transmission Settlements and Invoices.
Communications and Presentations
Prepares and distributes market update communications and presentations, including natural gas and electric power analytics/forecasts, to grid and power operations staff and other internal stakeholders to support operating strategies; contributes to development and implementation of technical seminars for operations staff, traders, external clients and others; contributes to operating strategy meetings with grid and power operations hourly staff and management.
Participates in energy related forums and meetings with other utilities and Governmental and regulatory agencies to share/exchange information; works collaboratively with cross functional teams in preparing, filing and presenting regulatory filings.
Researches and analyzes development, applicability and implementation of energy-related regulations, orders and statutes; recommends changes in daily business processes that will ensure compliance with all regulations.
You will bring the following skills to our team:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in IT, finance, business, economics, engineering or other science field.
Typically five or more years in the energy industry or a related field. Experience in operational analytics preferred.
Intermediate knowledge of electric bulk power generation, transmission and operating systems
Intermediate knowledge of the electric utility industry and electric energy markets, including trading, scheduling procedures, state and federal policies and regulations, and underlying physical infrastructure and networks
Intermediate skills in analyzing energy market conditions or trends
Intermediate skills in statistical and numerical analysis
Intermediate knowledge of grid reliability requirements and operations
Intermediate computer skills in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint), and other analytics programs
Intermediate knowledge of programming languages such as VB/VBA, C, Perl, Matlab, Mathematica, Python, Java and SQL
