As an IT Disaster Recovery Specialist, you will have the opportunity to implement and drive best practices for teams to adopt in building resilient solutions to meet our customers needs.
The ideal candidate will be proficient at building relationship with all levels of the organization to drive change in adopting IT Continuity practices ensuring technical solutions meet the needs of our customers.
What you will do in this role:
Develops, implements and updates IT disaster recovery standards and solutions in support of the enterprisewide business continuity program, strategies and initiatives; encourages a culture of business continuity awareness through education training and exercises for company employees; builds and maintains active relationships with IT Support and business units to facilitate the program and initiatives.
Conducts business continuity risk and impact assessments to identify service gaps and define critical services and IT needs. Coordinates the design, development, implementation and maintenance of IT disaster recovery plans in relation to business continuity, ensuring adequate protection of technical solutions supporting business functions.
Manages, participates in and evaluates IT disaster recovery exercises to ensure appropriate preparedness levels; assists in developing and facilitating internal drills, tabletop exercises and functional failover testing; conducts after-actions review and prepares outcome report; supports training of the company’s Incident Command System and Incident Management Team in relation to IT’s role in support during emergencies.
Facilitates the service continuity planning process and assists groups in implementing resulting plans. Coordinates the identification by specialists across the organization of information and communication systems that support the critical business processes and the assessment of risks to the availability, integrity and confidentiality of those systems. Evaluates the critical risks associated with these systems and provides inputs for improvement. Outlines standards for the planning, designing, testing of maintenance procedures and contingency plans to address exposure to risk and ensure that agreed levels of continuity are maintained.
Provides advice, assistance and leadership associated with the planning, design and improvement of service and component availability, including the investigation of all breaches of availability targets and service non-availability, with the instigation of remedial activities. Plans arrangements for disaster recovery, together with supporting processes, and manages the testing of such plans.
What you will bring to this role:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an IT discipline, risk management or other related field or equivalent experience.
Typically five or more years of progressive IT operations experience focusing on applications, systems or networking support in an enterprise and/or data center environment or in related field.
Prefer CBCP: DRI International's Certified Business Continuity Professional, Disaster Recovery Certified Specialist (DRCS) – BCM Institute, NIMMS ICS Certification Training 100b, 200b, 300, 700, 800 series or other business continuity and disaster recovery training/certification.
