This highly skilled individual will be responsible for managing the group of Field Service Engineers in the US operations Engineering division of Global Technical Services, supporting the US Operations and Maintenance organization. The role of the Field Engineering team is to; respond quickly to turbine-specific operational issues beyond the skill set of the Field Technicians, regardless of technology or manufacturer. Support the Sustaining Engineering team in resolving long-term operational issues.


  • Manage activities and priorities of the Field Engineering team. Manage all matters of the group, including but not limited to; workload, goals and objectives, performance reviews, and compensation.

  • Work closely with O&M Regional Directors and Plant Managers to ensure optimum support is directed to their respective teams.

  • Support the utilization of external professionals who provide technical expertise and project support in evaluation of operational and performance issues.

  • Support conference calls with suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual obligations. Reviews supplier’s root cause failure analysis and corrective action documentation.

  • Support product improvement programs designed to increase wind turbine performance and/or reduce operational costs.

  • Support Procurement’s effort to develop and qualify second and third-tier parts suppliers.

  • Works with Sourcing to resolve warranty-related issues.

  • Assures the Team supports Operations and Maintenance personnel with other wind turbine infrastructure components such as but not limited to; gearboxes, blades, generators, frequency converters, and pad transformers.

Skills and Requirements

Education & Experience Required:

BS Eletrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated experience and/or training in team leading and/or management.

6 years of experience in wind turbine engineering or operations.

Demonstrated experience in root-cause-failure-analysis activity.

Demonstrated experience in technical discussions with system manufacturers.


Ability to climb 100-meter-tall steel towers on occasional basis to assist with root cause analysis investigation on turbine component failures.

Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, data management, CAD, and reporting systems.

Ability to interpret and follow a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Possession of comprehensive writing skills for upwards reporting.

Ability to solve complex problems and deal with a number of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Adheres to effective internal controls.

Must work well under pressure from job demands, multi-tasking ability essential.

Requires approximately 20% travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or PE license.

Experience with MatLab and Weibul failure analysis software.

Experience with photovoltaic solar

Speak, write, and understand Spanish.
