Become a Substation Construction and Maintenance Sr. Technical Specialist. Snr Specialist will work with the substation maintenance groups and other stakeholders to provide on-site expertise, support and coordination needed to resolve complex issues with substation apparatus. Organizes planned activities to resolve substation apparatus issues, and facilitates medium to large project meetings and public speaking presentations with key stakeholders. Extensive travel to substations within the Edison territory for on-site crew, vendor, and stakeholder support needs. Provides on-site consultation and guidance to substation crews. Collects data, pictures, and historical details of substation incidents and creates detailed post incident reports which are widely distributed to Substation stakeholders. Provides program oversight and advancement of substation apparatus maintenance programs.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Provides timely response and guidance to help substation crews perform needed repairs and maintenance on substation apparatus throughout the SCE substation grid.

  • Coordinates with vendors and other key stakeholders substation repair and inspection activities.

  • Performs in-person and virtual meetings for project coordination and planning.

  • Executes projects from inception, through planning, to completion phase.


The Essentials

  • Minimum of 5 years work experience working with high voltage electrical apparatus, engineering, construction, test or maintenance work.

The Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • Experience with SAP transactions and data look up.

  • Good public speaker in front of large groups for training and consulting with Asset Engineering, equipment manufacturer representatives, and other external vendors with regard to substation apparatus design, maintenance, and issue resolution.

  • Working knowledge of company and department policies, substation work safety rules and requirements, applicable governmental laws and regulations.

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
