Become a Senior Specialist, Reliability at Southern California Edison (SCE) and help shape building a reliable and resilient electric system of tomorrow. In this job, you’ll play a key role in shaping the roadmap in improving and advancing SCE’s electric system to ensure reliability and resiliency from design to construction, operating and maintaining electric system and assets at SCE. As a Senior Specialist , you will support and provide technical leadership in developing and advancing system reliability metrics in alignment with SCE’s Corporate goals and objectives that focus on improving customer experience.

As a Senior Specialist, Reliability your work will be crucial in ensuring the development, execution and monitoring the effectiveness of capital investments affecting overall system reliability and resiliency.   • Perform outage analytics to support the development of short- and long-term strategies to support in achieving Reliability Target goals and other metrics.

  • Support the development of reliability roadmap refresh.

  • Support the identification, understanding, and evaluation of transmission and distribution system outages and assess for reliability improvement, increase operational effectiveness, and meet key strategic goals and metrics

  • Provide support and leadership for operations-focused initiatives that will improve SCE’s systems reliability performance, repair and maintenance outage management, advance data integration and analytical capacity, and new technology adoption.

  • Interact with senior leadership and stakeholders across different organizational units to solicit new ideas and incorporate feedback into short- and long-term strategy to improve system reliability.

  • Providing guidance & support as a strategic technical SME of Reliability & Resiliency.

  • Support benchmarking initiatives with major utilities on design, construction standards for identifying lessons learned, best practices for continuous improvement

  • Provide writing, analyzing, and submitting regulatory compliance reports, data requests, and industry partner

  • Support data needs and analysis related to reliability performance from various external and internal stakeholders.

  • Maintaining & running T&D's reliability data analytics, data interpretation, data extraction and modeling.

  • Collect, document, analyze, and draw conclusions/recommendations based on sophisticated data and information from various outage database sources.

  • Plan all aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementation strategies for moderate to sophisticated analysis; generate reports from business applications/databases.

  • Pull data sources, extraction methods and data interpretation.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Five years of experience performing detailed analysis, querying, investigating and resolving problems, drawing conclusions from large datasets and complex information, and presenting results/process improvement recommendations to management and key stakeholders.

  • Experience developing and maintaining dashboards using Power BI, SAS and/or other related tools.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Finance, Economics, Business, Statistics.

  • Experience using database models and prototypes using SAS EG, R and/or Python, SAS VA/Viya, PowerBI, SQL, SharePoint, VBA

  • In-depth understanding of Transmission and Distribution outage processes and tools utilized for reliability metrics reporting, development, and analysis

  • Experience applying regulatory and legislative compliance for utilities (FERC, NERC, CPUC, etc.).

  • Experience working in Quality Assurance or Quality Control or Compliance programs

  • Organizational experience with high level of initiative and ability to effectively interface, motivate, collaborate, lead, and partner with stakeholders, senior management, and team members to help drive compliance and ensure stakeholder buy-in.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills

  • Experience with Reliability Programs and compliance requirements

  • Experience using SCE Outage Database Reliability Management (ODRM), Outage Management System and Energy Management System

  • Experience working with SCE grid (transmission, subtransmission, distribution) configuration, lines, connectivity, and interdependencies.

  • Experience in developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Ability to gather, understand, integrate, and synthesize complex information in order to develop short- and long-term strategies, proposed standard changes, make recommendations, and propose action plans.

  • Ability to consult with key stakeholders and maintain relationships with clients provide direction and make strategic decisions regarding changing project/product scope, policy development, implementation, and quality control.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to independently make sound judgments and develop imaginative solutions to extremely complex problems.

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
