Job Description

ENERGY FOR WHAT’S AHEAD

Are you looking to make a difference in your career? We’re working on smarter grids, cleaner energy and tools to help people manage energy more efficiently.

About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

SCE's vision for a clean energy future will be enabled by our bold clean energy strategic initiatives, including cleaning the power grid and helping customers make clean energy choices.

Transportation Electrification (TE) is a key component of this strategy as the transportation sector is one of the largest consumers of energy with the majority of energy consumed coming from petroleum. Southern California has some of the worst air quality in the nation. To meet environmental goals, California must significantly reduce greenhouse gases by 2030 and nitrogen oxides in some of California's most polluted areas by 2032. SCE's Clean Power and Electrification Pathway offers a plan to meet California’s ambitious environmental goals. SCE is proposing a pathway to 2030 that includes reducing greenhouse gas emissions from three sources:

  • Provide 80% carbon-free electricity from large-scale resources statewide.

  • Electrify 24%—about 7 million (throughout CA) — passenger cars and a proportion of trucks and buses.

  • Use electricity to power nearly one-third of the space and water heaters in residential and commercial buildings.

  • Maintains strategic relationships internally with engineering and construction teams across departments to obtain input on infrastructure improvements and modifications.

  • Manages efficient operations, maintaining a high degree of customer focus, strategizing and preparing for the increased volume of work in clean energy initiatives.
