About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organization (T&D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 15 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
The Senior GIS Technical Specialist will be part of the Geospatial Analysis group in Real Properties within the Transmission & Distribution Organization Unit (OU). A successful candidate will perform a wide variety of data integrity tasks associated with: Work order intake, processing, and analysis. Data capturing, both geospatial and attribute based. Data validations and comparisons across multiple databases. Training, including in person and online, and developing and maintaining documentation. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of GIS Services for all OU’s by interfacing with internal/external clients to assess project requirements; create high-end analytical and cartographic map products utilizing various data types and sources including satellite imagery/aerial photography; performing geospatial analysis for maps and/or reports; acquiring data from various sources; creating, maintaining, and documenting metadata, development of online mapping tools (e.g. ArcGIS Online and Survey123), and assisting with the creation and maintenance of GIS-based web services and web mapping applications. In addition, this position will be supporting various major capital projects and providing support for fire mitigation and environmental analysis.
Responsible for supporting the management, development, and implementation of applications supporting data integrity.
Responsible for supporting the management, development, and implementation of tools supporting tracking and reporting for data integrity.
Identifies financial or operational impact to business unit or company on daily activities that have moderate to significant business unit wide impact. Ensures scheduled activities are completed on schedule and within budget.
Perform Project Management tasks such as Scope of Work, Scheduling, Maintenance, Quality Control, Tracking and Reporting.
Perform a wide variety of Data Integrity tasks such as: data capturing, both geospatial and attribute based, data validations and comparisons across multiple databases.
Perform Training including in person and online as well as developing and maintaining documentation.
Responsible for performing routine and repetitive analysis and develops recommendations which address customer and / or Company problems / issues that require intermediate to advanced technical knowledge to resolve.
Interacting with peers, management and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate information is communicated to respective groups to ensure data integrity.
Utilizing various reference tools and materials to accurately maintain data integrity for SCE’s electrical assets.
Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Five (5) or more years of experience working in the Engineering or Technology field creating and analyzing engineering drawings, maps, and data.
Five (5) or more years of experience working with more than one of the following applications; AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map3D, ArcMap, ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, ESRI Viewers, or Google Earth
Five (5) years of experience performing data integrity functions. For example, data capturing, both geospatial and attribution, data validations and comparisons across multiple applications (i.e. AutoCAD Map3D, ArcMap) and databases (i.e. ODS / CDS), as well as performing routine and repetitive analysis and developing recommendations which address customer and / or Company problems / issues that require intermediate to advanced technical knowledge to resolve.
Five (5) or more years of experience managing data integrity tasks / projects which includes identifying problem statements, root cause analysis, solution review, coordination, tracking, and reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Science, Computer Science with an emphasis in GIS, or other specialized field.
Experience using business applications to create and edit complex reports, graphs, and presentations.
Experience converting data from one format to another, generating ad hoc reports from business applications / databases.
Knowledge and or experience with electrical theory.
Ability to utilize new relevant technology and innovation to improve work performance.
Experience in Geography, Environmental Science, and Computer Science with an emphasis in GIS, or other specialized field.
Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as VLOOKUP’s, pivot tables, filtering/sorting, charts and graphing.
Experience in Geodatabase Design, cartographic standards and usage of peripherals such as plotters, digitizers, and scanners.
Experience with relational databases such as Oracle and ArcSDE.
Leadership experience with the ability to work independently and perform responsibilities as assigned.
Experience performing technical writer functions, mapping out process flows and documentation.
Experience coordinating Process Flow Improvements, including identification, proposition and implementation of improvements.
