Become a Project Management Support - Construction, Senior Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will be responsible for all analytical functions required to support the successful execution/construction of SCE projects. Our Third-Party Projects group handles the development and execution of projects initiated by and for SCE's large external customers requiring interconnection with the sub transmission or transmission system. You will also support project managers who lead cross-functional teams from each SCE organizations whose participation is required to license, engineer, procure and construct the projects. The Senior Specialist will also interface directly with these external customers' project management and technical staff to coordinate activities and ensure the customer's needs are met.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Supporting the pre-construction/construction planning processes by crafting and supervising action items and leading project team member adherence.

  • Collaborating with the multi-disciplinary project teams which often consists of 30 or more members.

  • Assisting the project manager with all project related support tasks, such as preparation of progress reports, tracking of project achievements, schedules and budgets.

  • Establishing, presenting, and applying project procedures, directives, and bulletins to ensure compliance with SCE's policies and procedures.

  • Supporting, planning and coordinating multiple projects, including supervising and reporting project status, and coordinating activities and schedules to ensure timely delivery.

  • Utilization of project management tools and systems, including Microsoft Project to maintain sophisticated project schedules.

  • Crafting and maintaining project documentation, including version control, distribution, document storage/retention in sophisticated document libraries and access control.

  • Working with Public Affairs to develop vital public involvement data, talking points and presentations about project progress as well as working directly with local governments.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Five years of experience in a project management support role.

  • Three years of experience using software tools within MS Suite such as: Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio to present information.

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Business Administration, Business

  • Experience in supporting large capital projects through planning and coordinating multiple deliverables, including preparation of presentation material, agendas and meeting minutes, supervising and reporting project status, and coordinating activities to ensure timely delivery.

  • Management, Math, Statistics, Finance, Engineering or related degree.

  • PMP Certification and/or Project Management Certificate

  • Experience crafting and editing reports, graphs, presentations, converting information from one format to another, generating non-standard reports, maintaining records, logs, document files and databases used for monitoring, tracking and trending programs/project costs, resources, schedules, and status for management.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, handle risks appropriately, develop and complete business plans, lead information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Work Mode: Hybrid: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • This position will require up to 25% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
