About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

The Principal Manager of the Pole Program Management (PPM) organization oversees the assessment & inspections, design remediation, pole remediation, and project management associated with SCE poles. The manager will be responsible for the planning and development of business strategies to meet corporate execution targets, budget targets, identify cost effective ways to remediate poles, minimize customer impacts, and deliver pole packages to construction on-time. Ensures compliance with General Order (GO) 95 & 165 and has strategic oversight for PPM’s participation in regulatory proceedings.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Sets direction and oversight for assessment & inspection, design remediation, and pole remediation for a high annual volume of poles.

  • Ensures an integrated and complete delivery of inspections and designs for all SCE poles.

  • Ensures consistent application of established standards and related business processes.

  • Maintains strategic relationships internally with design and construction teams across departments to obtain input on infrastructure improvements and modifications.

  • Manages inspector contractor resources.

  • Oversees the project management group responsible for pole remediation and project management services provided to the construction crews.

  • Ensures services provided are thorough from implementation to completion.

  • Acts as primary interface with field execution groups of DC&M and Transmission construction resources.

  • Guide the assessment, planning, permitting, and construction of various pole replacement projects across the service territory.

  • Oversees the department responsible for pole assessment and inspection.

  • Ensures inspection of every non-engineered pole in our service territory for the Pole Loading Program (PLP).

  • Ensure all wood poles are intrusively inspected every 10 years after pole is 15 years old.

  • Oversees the department responsible for design remediation.

  • Ensures department is gatekeeper for all deteriorated pole scope in the company.

  • Ensures pole scope and design work is prioritized for the Technical and Transmission design groups.

  • Oversees the department responsible for regulatory and internal controls.

  • Manager’s participation in regulatory proceedings, produce regulatory reports, and lead implementation of regulatory decisions.

  • Maintains external and internal audits.

  • Ensures the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Performs self-assessments to identify control gaps.

  • Manages financial and other reporting.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Seven years’ experience managing and leading an organization or unit.

  • Must have lead a diverse team focused on innovation, change management and employee development.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Experience related to design, construction, project management, maintenance, and operation of electrical systems

  • Experience in developing, monitoring, and meeting budget targets
