About Transmission and Distribution

Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Organizational Unit is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position overview

The position is part of Pole Program Management (PPM) within T&D that is responsible for pole scope processing, design remediation, and data reporting/tracking for any poles identified as deteriorated within SCE’s approximately 1.4 million pole portfolio.

The successful candidate will provide leadership to a team of Technical Specialists and Analysts to correctly disposition pole remediation notifications and designs for the PLP/IPI Assessment programs. They will ensure design remediation activities are completed accurately and within established cycle times, and will serve as a sounding board for out-of-the-ordinary situations, providing guidance and making decisions to address new challenges.

The Pole Assessment & Remediation/Design Senior Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the management of SAP notifications, pole importing and release activities/strategy, Pole Tracker data management and the initial creation of deteriorated pole products (TD’s) in Design Manager. Additionally, they will oversee the Design Contractor completing PPM support activities such as; resolution of Issue Poles, Discrepancy Poles, and O&M Guy Remediation processing. Ultimately, he/she will be responsible for ensuring production levels are satisfied, compliance dates are met, and pole disposition is implemented as planned. As a leader of a technical specialist team, the Senior Supervisor will lead and/or participate in multiple critical initiatives.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Tracks and reports on pole status and cycle time from identification by the Assessment team until released to the execution team.

  • Responsible for PPM related analytics, data interpretation, data extraction and modeling.

  • Responsible for development, improvement and execution of processes that support PPM performance and metrics.

  • Makes strategic recommendations on data collection, extraction, preparation, and integration all while maintaining data integrity.

  • Develops, interprets, and delivers presentations to senior management, department and division management on initiatives supporting PPM strategies and goals.

  • Making decisions on immediate issues with limited opportunity for review or reversal. Thorough knowledge of department policies, objectives, strategies, and goals; applicable governmental and regulatory laws and requirements; and discipline, function, or work practices being supervised.

  • Ensures team follows established processes and procedures.

  • Ensures optimal resource allocation and completion of work.

  • Responsible for providing direction, coaching, training and development, and other duties of a supervisory position.

  • Directly responsible for training, and compliance of corporate safety, illness and injury policies, rules, and procedures.


Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business major

  • Must have 4 or more years of experience in, or related to the field of analytics

  • Three or more years’ experience working with ERP (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft), or analytical tools such as SAS or Visual Analytics (VA).

  • Supervisory and/or leadership experience

Desired qualifications

  • Completed or in progress Master’s Degree in statistics, data science, or equivalent.

  • Three or more years of experience using Excel functions such as V-lookups, Pivot Tables, and creating charts and graphs

  • Three or more years’ experience in related technical field performing pole load calculations, consulting, and providing recommendations.

  • Effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.

  • Strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

  • Experience managing scope, schedule and budget.

  • Experience preparing weekly and monthly status reports in order to monitor team’s performance.

  • Strong analytical, problem solving and negotiation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.

  • Ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Knowledge of Distribution and/or Transmission Business Lines and SCE policies, practices, procedures, objectives, and strategies.
