Job Description
Become an Engineering Manager, System Planning Process at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will own and manage the annual Grid Needs Assessment (GNA) and Distribution Deferral Opportunities Report (DDOR) Program on behalf of Distribution System Planning & Strategy. In these areas, you will have a leadership role in processes that achieve the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) into the annual distribution planning process. You will also lead or participate in other cross-organizational planning initiatives and efforts such as SCE’s annual summer readiness program and SCE’s System Planning Process Modernization (SPPM) activities.
You will be responsible for guiding, mentoring and leading a team of 6 employees including Engineers & a Project Manager, and will work in close partnership with three peer groups that are responsible for closely related portions of SCE’s annual system planning process (DSP/TSP, ICA, and data/tools teams respectively). You will meet regularly with senior management within Distribution System Planning & Strategy and will work closely with internal stakeholder groups including but not limited to strategy & policy, forecasting, energy procurement, and regulatory affairs teams. You will also interact with external agencies such as the CPUC as part of our annual GNA/DDOR processes.

Coach, mentor and provide guidance and development of goals for direct reports
Own and manage SCE’s annual GNA/DDOR programs
Align with peer groups responsible for closely related activities (DSP/TSP, ICA, data/tools) as part of SCE’s distribution system planning process
Interface with internal stakeholders such as strategy & policy, forecasting, energy procurement, and regulatory affairs teams to ensure GNA/DDOR program success
Interact with the CPUC and other external GNA/DDOR stakeholders
Lead or coordinate other cross-organizational planning initiatives and efforts as needed
Qualifications
The essentials
Five or more years combined experience performing, leading or supervising engineering functions
Experience in system planning or related engineering disciplines
The preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, equivalent, or higher
CA Professional Engineering License
Distribution engineering or distribution system planning experience
Strong communication and writing skills with the ability to communicate complicated technical issues in a succinct manner
Familiarity with ongoing or recent CPUC system planning regulatory proceedings e.g. DRP, High DER
Ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, project personnel, and all levels of management enterprise-wide to develop solutions and ensure stakeholder buy-in
You should know
This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility or in the field location. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
