Become an Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. An Engineer 2 in the Distribution and Sub transmission Substation Plan (DSP/TSP) Program team will be responsible for project management of complex analytical workstreams performed by engineering planning teams that identify infrastructure upgrades needed to maintain safe and reliable power to all Southern California Edison customers.

Work with teams of engineers from various planning and technical groups to design and implement strategy that meets the technical, regulatory, and financial needs.
Support the development of planning methodology within new planning software.
Explain complex technical concepts and deliver technical presentations to both a technical and non-technical audience, including public settings
Support DSP/TSP teams in their analysis and studies to determine the need and/or requirements for capital projects to enhance the grid.
Work independently to support the prioritization of new distribution projects, development of regulatory filings, and support of multiple engineering teams
Management the intake of customer interconnections for load and DERs into the Distribution Planning Process.
Support the development of the load forecast, including the disaggregation of the Integrated Energy Policy Report (IEPR)
Lead the review, modification, and presentation of training materials to diverse engineering teams.
Support and own the development, interpretation, and application of existing/new engineering standards and designs.
Maintain a safety conscious work environment by following Edison’s safety protocols and safe work practices in addition to providing support with all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
The essentials
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics/Mathematics or related field of study
Two or more combined years of engineering experience, such as Field Engineering or System Planning or engineering support or experience related to tool support or any other experience related to supporting engineering solutions
The preferred
Project management lead or support experience
Experience with the distribution planning systems and related equipment
Ability to perform complex analysis and technical activities to produce engineering studies and reports
Ability to influence others and maintain positive working relationships
Work effectively in areas where processes are not clearly defined, self-starter
Experience with coding/scripting to automate engineering processes and data collection (i.e., SQL, Python, VBA)
Experience in the area of power system engineering analysis, including applicable laws, standards, codes, and analysis software
Experience using Microsoft Office applications
Strong ethics and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning
You should know
This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
