In this job, you’ll be working on smarter grids, cleaner energy and tools to help people manage energy more efficiently. As a Data Governance Advisor , your work will support the Data and Accuracy Governance portions of the Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Information Governance organization. The Data and Accuracy Governance teams will include implementing detailed asset metrics, developing a business glossary and data dictionary across all T&D business lines, supporting asset management activities, determining and establishing data stewards and responsibilities for review and management of asset attributes. The Information Governance (IG) Program in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) is being newly established. Aligning with and supporting the Enterprise Information Governance Program, this position will.

  • Add organizational unit level centralized comprehensive governance over T&D’s data and records management .

  • Reduce the risk of significant fines and penalties linked to poor records management and data quality controls.

  • Improve data protection, accuracy, accessibility and compliance controls.

  • Ensure accurate records and information are available while making decisions related to reliable and safe operations.

  • Recommend and support deployment of technical solutions to manage records and information across disparate technology platforms and data systems.

  • Develop, deploy and maintain T&D metrics and dashboards to assure data quality including measurement of conformance, consistency, integrity, accuracy, and timing.

  • Develop and maintain the T&D Data Dictionary and Business Glossary.

  • Perform root cause analysis for identified data discrepancies and determine appropriate Operation Unit (OU) or Business Line (BL) disposition

  • Work with IG management and T&D leaders to identify information governance issues associated with systems, processes, and data that may impact critical operations.

  • Work closely with leaders on major initiatives to develop best practices for managing ever-increasing volumes of data collected.

  • Develop and/or support process changes and employee training identified through continuous improvement activities that improve data quality and organizational efficiency.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • 7 years or more of experience with data management or data mining.

  • 3 or more years of experience with data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, SAS).

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field

  • Experience in information management, information governance, information protection, records management, records and information quality, data visualization, or data science

  • Work with enterprise systems, relational database and data warehousing concepts, structures, theories and practices (SAP, GESW, Oracle Spatial).

  • Technical writing, mapping process flows and other business process documentation

  • Work in a highly regulated environment including an understanding of audit and compliance requirements

  • Work in project management with multiple priorities in a timeline driven environment with ability to self-manage

  • Present findings and consulting with matrix stakeholders
