Become a Business Strategy and Value Optimization Advisor at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you’ll be part of Asset Strategy & Planning (ASP), which is responsible for developing executable plans to ensure SCE meets short- and long-term company objectives. In this job you will support developing, updating, and maintaining an enterprise-wide value framework to evaluate the benefits of SCE work activities and completing portfolio optimization analysis to support business planning processes. You will work with teams across SCE to develop the value framework and use it to evaluate SCE work activities in terms of benefits to strategic company objectives, risk mitigation, and economic savings. You will develop complex analytical models to incorporate value framework benefit assessments and various constraints to evaluate a range of enterprise-wide business planning scenarios.

  • Assist in work with cross-functional teams including Strategic Planning, Operational Excellence (OE), Finance, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to develop, maintain and update a value framework to evaluate work activities and their impact to company objectives

  • Support efforts with Operating Unit Subject Matter Experts (OU SMEs) to calculate expected benefits for work activities in value framework terms and how benefits change for different volumes of work by activity

  • Support development and operation of a complex analytical model to evaluate business planning scenarios based on expected benefits in value framework terms subject to resource constraints

  • Support development of presentations to summarize business planning scenarios, costs and benefits of work activities, and how the value of activities changes at different volumes of work

  • Consult on various prioritization exercises to ensure that value framework is applied consistently across the enterprise and that value of work activities is calibrated across OUs


The essentials

  • 7 years of business analysis (e.g., financial modeling, statistical analysis, risk analysis, etc.) and/or strategic planning

The preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or other business-related discipline

  • Understanding of utility operations

  • Experience pulling and synthesizing data from various sources, cost-benefit analysis, risk management, bow-tie analysis and/or developing business cases for SCE activities

  • Experience coordinating and/or developing components of the regulatory proceedings

  • Financial modeling, advanced analytics, and/or statistical analysis skills

  • Experience with Python, VBA, R, and/or SAS

  • Strong logical thinking and quick learning abilities

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to develop communication materials and facilitate decision-making conversations with senior leadership

  • Work Mode: When a return-to-office date has been determined, this position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
