About Transmission and Distribution
Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.
This position will be a Technical Specialist (TSP1) in the Geospatial Equipment Data Maintenance group within SCE’s Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit. The successful candidate will maintain mapping data in a comprehensive system using AutoCAD Map 3D software by interpreting work orders, circuit maps, SAP software, and various reference tools/materials to accurately maintain SCE's electrical assets.
Performs routine mapping record maintenance and cleansing.
Reviews own work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting to Supervisor or Quality Control staff, for review.
Complete detailed drawings from rough sketches and/or verbal instructions or notes with limited direction from other staff.
Participates, as needed, in meetings with Management and Peers to fully understand expected project outcomes and milestone deliverables.
Interact with peers, management and other internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate mapping practices.
Performs basic mathematical calculations to support and update SCE’s Franchise and Ad Valorem tax information databases.
Maintains a safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Must have one or more years of experience utilizing CAD-based software packages, such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
Must have experience reading and interpreting any of the following source materials: work order maps, field notes, civil drawings, land descriptions, survey drawings, or other mapping reference materials.
AutoCAD certificate from a school accredited by the US Department of Education or an Associate's degree (A.S.) in AutoCAD.
Experience with design/drafting in AutoCAD for electric utility, electrical distribution design, engineering design, or construction work preferred.
A combination of education, training, and experience to obtain knowledge and abilities generally equivalent to those typically possessed by a high school graduate.
Experience reviewing rough sketches, drawings specifications, including dimensioning, and creating conceptual drawings in AutoCAD design software.
Exceptional mathematical and problem solving skills.
Demonstrates strong ethics, safety protocols and safe work practices.
