General Purpose

The successful candidate in this position will provide professional accounting services utilizing appropriate accounting principles. Activities may include preparation and review of: journal entries and account reconciliations; work papers and other schedules; internal/external financial statements; management reports and analysis of financial, tax and/or economic data.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for the Mid-Level Position include:

Assist with adjusting entries required under GAAP.

Analyze financial or economic data and provide recommendations based on analysis.

Consolidate and report on GAAP financials for PacifiCorp Holdings Inc., including PacifiCorp and its subsidiaries.

Perform debt compliance calculations and other duties relating to reporting requirements.

Perform moderately complex assignments requiring analysis, integration, and creativity.

Consult and resolve internal/external customer issues which may be critical, moderately complex, sensitive, or urgent in nature.

Prepare monthly and quarterly consolidating financial statements, budgets and/or cash forecasts, reconciliations and analysis.

Provide recommendations to internal and external customers.

In addition, the responsibilities of the Sr. level position include:

Compile data, analyze, review and interpret financial results; including balance sheets, statements of operations and statements of cash flows.

Compile, analyze and interpret data in preparation and/or review of PacifiCorp’s annual and quarterly reports filed with the FERC, including compilation of the FERC financial statements and review of consolidating entries for the FERC.

Compile, analyze and interpret data in preparation of PacifiCorp’s annual and quarterly reports filed with the SEC and the company’s state regulatory commissions.

Research & interpret accounting and taxation rules including policies issued by governmental and regulatory bodies.

Perform analytical and reporting tasks: gather information from other departments, interface with various levels of management and prepare and/or review of supporting work papers in a manner conducive to achieving compliance with our internal controls and procedures.

Test and review accounting transactions for accuracy of entry and classification.

Perform ad hoc reporting, including drafting of responses to data requests from state regulatory commissions, external auditors, other regulatory bodies and other internal requests.

Notify business units and management of potential problems identified, which may be critical, complex, sensitive or urgent in nature, and work through resolutions as appropriate.

Requirements for the Mid-Level position include:

Requirements for this position include the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • A minimum of three years of relevant work experience that has contributed to the development of proven accounting, regulation, interpretation and application skills, financial and economic analysis skills.

  • General knowledge of GAAP, Company accounting principles, procedures, practices, and Company accounting systems.

  • Analysis skills including gathering and analyzing moderately complex financial or economic data and providing recommendations upon analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult and resolve internal/external customer issues which may be critical, sensitive, or urgent in nature.

  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds; ability to work as a member of a team.

  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet applications when conducting analysis and financial/economic modeling.

In addition, the requirements of the Sr. Level include:

  • A minimum of five years relevant work experience that has contributed to the development of skills in accounting, including the ability to gather and analyze complex financial data and provide written explanations based upon analysis..

Preferences

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or an advanced degree. SAP financial modules competence. General understanding of utility regulation and the FERC Code of Regulations. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, company accounting policies, procedures and practices and company accounting systems;an understanding of the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
