Job Overview:
As related to the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Operations & Planning Reliability Standards, the Engineer - Regulatory Compliance Associate IV will assist in the coordination and execution of regulatory compliance activities for the Company. This includes supporting the implementation of compliance initiatives, helping review and organize documentation, and performing basic monitoring tasks under the direction of more senior team members. The Engineer IV will track compliance activities, assist in maintaining documentation, and support Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on compliance-related efforts. Training and guidance will be provided as needed to help ensure understanding of regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
Support the review and tracking of compliance with operational and technical requirements set by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), NERC, PJM Interconnection (PJM), and ReliabilityFirst (RF). Help gather and organize data for self-certifications, scheduled requests, and other compliance reporting.
Assist senior staff and SMEs in maintaining documentation and evidence to support compliance activities, including updates to compliance management tools and databases.
Provide general administrative and operational support during internal and external audits, such as organizing records, preparing materials, and tracking audit requests.
Collaborate with SMEs in functional areas such as Operations, Planning, Protection, Asset Management, and Engineering to help compile accurate documentation and ensure compliance procedures are followed.
Help identify and log compliance concerns and assist in developing and documenting corrective actions as directed by senior staff.
Participate in mock audit preparation efforts, helping coordinate schedules, compile evidence, and track responses.
Help maintain the NERC compliance database and assist with data entry, tracking task completion, and following up with responsible individuals to ensure timely action.
Monitor compliance-related communications (e.g., industry updates, calls, bulletins) and share relevant information with the compliance team and SMEs. Assist with preparing materials or logistics for internal training sessions when required.
Work under the direction of the Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Senior Manager, or Director to support continuous improvement of the Company’s NERC Operations & Planning compliance program.
Support efforts to document internal controls in collaboration with SMEs and help track progress toward mitigation plans or corrective actions related to identified compliance risks.
Education/Experience
Five years of experience working in Transmission System Operations, Maintenance, Planning, or NERC Operations & Planning standards. In lieu of 5 years of experience, a professional engineering (PE) license plus 3 years of experience working in Transmission System Operations, Maintenance, Planning, or NERC Operations & Planning standards would be acceptable.
Technical knowledge and experience with transmission system operations, maintenance or planning required.
Experience working in a regulated entity, especially in the electricity sector or in other regulated environments including the energy, financial, healthcare or insurance industries strongly preferred.

Scope
Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs, and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and workflow but may be leading projects or project steps. Work is typically complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently most of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently. Acts as a resource to less experienced staff on routine issues.

Problems and issues faced are complex. Draws on past experience on a regular basis to solve problems and take new perspectives on existing solutions. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid Work
Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
