We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Cloud Solution Architect to drive high priority IT initiatives across multiple cloud technologies (Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker, Virtualization, etc), Cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google, etc) and Cloud Platforms (IaaS, SaaS and PaaS) in collaboration with the Technical Services teams and internal business customers.
The Cloud Solutions Architect will own the design, deployment, and migration of systems for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS environments. This includes architectural design sessions, specific implementation projects and/or pilots and process improvement within the technology stack. The solutions architect is responsible for identification and selection of appropriate cloud services based on requirements and constraints, has deep subject matter expertise, and can evaluate new technologies for fit in current infrastructure architecture. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer facing roles and success leading deep technical architecture discussions with Technical Resources, Enterprise/Solution Architects, IT Management and Application Development teams to drive Cloud adoption where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities Include
Maintain in-depth knowledge of company’s strategic business plans.
Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to systems analysts, IT cloud engineers, and other systems architects.
Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing IT cloud architecture/infrastructure, and technology portfolio.
Develop and manage an IT cloud infrastructure capacity plan.
Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a cloud technology standards policy.
Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility.
Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT cloud infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities.
Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end IT cloud integrated systems from RFI/RFP thru production release.
Develop and execute test plans to check IT cloud infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement.
Be the lead voice of the Technology Services team to share insights and best practices, connect with Infrastructure and Application teams to remove key blockers
Be a Platform Agnostic evangelist with customers, partners and external communities
Understand DLC’s overall application and technical portfolio, IT and business priorities and success measures to design implementation architectures, solutions and processes using Virtualization, PaaS and DevOps technologies.
Apply technical knowledge and customer insights to create an infrastructure modernization roadmap and architect solutions to meet business and IT needs, ensuring technical viability of new projects and successful deployments, orchestrating key resources and infusing key infrastructure and DevOps technologies (e.g., virtualized, containers, serverless, cloud native, and DevOps tools)
Deep domain expertise of DevOps and cloud application development solutions (e.g. PaaS, Serverless), container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry), continuous integration technologies (e.g. Jenkins, Spinnaker, Azure for DevOps, Chef, Puppet), Virtualization and server/storage technologies, cloud infrastructure design, software architecture and practices (design/development/deployment), one or more of the following languages/technologies: C#, Java, SOA, Python, Ansible, Terraform, Shell/PowerShell, Python, Ruby)
Breadth of technical experience, and technical aptitude to learn and adjust to new technologies and cloud trends required.
Experience using integrated development and infrastructure environments (e.g., Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code) Linux, Windows, public clouds (i.e., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) required.
Experience working on large-scale IT implementations involving Microsoft, Oracle, and/or similar technologies
Experience designing and architecting infrastructure where appropriate in cloud environment (SaaS / PaaS / IaaS).
Experience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure and applications portfolio in enterprise-wide environment (including migration of on-premises workloads to the cloud) required.
Experience and understanding of large-scale application projects (including key coding skills and practices) required.
5+ years of success in consultative/complex technical consulting and deployment projects (where necessary, managing various stakeholder relationships to get consensus on solution/projects), architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of highly distributed applications required.
Acknowledged for driving decisions collaboratively, resolving conflicts and ensuring follow through with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Presentation skills with a high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences (technologists, developers, Senior Executives and IT management).
Technical Degree: min of Bachelors in Computer Science or adjacent fields preferred;
Prior work experience in a Consulting/Architecture position a plus
