Overall Purpose:

This position provides support for and assists in the financial analysis and control of the PMO project budgets. This position is responsible for the development of financial models for project planning, analysis, and budgeting and forecasting efforts. This position also provides general support for several and specific subject matter expertise for a few of the business processes within the Office of the CIO. The Office of the CIO has leadership responsibility for all of the IT back-office business processes including financial management; strategic sourcing & procurement; vendor management; contract & license compliance; staffing & recruiting; communications and performance monitoring & reporting.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Data mine Duquesne Light financial systems in order to consolidate, summarize and analyze financial data (actual, budget, forecast, etc.) and develop reports on financial status to identify trends.

  • Develop financial models and analysis to support project development and variance analysis of actual versus budget/forecast financial results.

  • Coordinate with project management teams to identify and coordinate estimates to complete projections for project scope.

  • Facilitate the processing of IT business support requests within the company's Financial, Supply Chain and HR systems within committed deadlines and in adherence with company standards, policies and procedures. This includes reconciling, processing and tracking monthly project invoices, developing month-end accruals, and assisting in the maintenance of Duquesne Light’s internal time keeping system.

  • Update IT data repositories with timely and accurate information as well as generate and distribute tracking reports to appropriate stakeholders within committed deadlines.

  • Develop tracking mechanisms to proactively monitor IT business support transactional deadlines as well as alert stakeholders within a period that provides sufficient time to take necessary actions.

  • Provide professional interaction as the IT liaison to external company vendors and internal company business partners within Finance, Supply Chain and HR.

  • Support the development, documentation, automation and continuous improvement of Office of the CIO business process standards, procedures, guidelines and policies.

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert and mentor for specific IT business support processes.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Roles at this level require industry specific experience. Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree. With 3 to 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred:

Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline (with three to five years’ experience working with financial modeling, budgeting /forecasting and management reporting. Strong financial modeling, forecasting and analytical skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is a must. Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills. Demonstrates appropriate understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and has ability to apply them. Working knowledge of business systems and processes, and associated internal controls.

Scope:

Primary focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Typically accountable for managing ones own time and work flow. Responsibilities are generally tactical in nature and work is typically of moderate to complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Continues to build knowledge base but has a solid foundation to act independently the majority of the time. Still draws on experts and managers when needed but less frequently.

Problems and issues faced are vague. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Proficient in the body of knowledge of given discipline or specialty area. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
