Department Overview

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary

This is an International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.

First Hydro Clerks are responsible for providing general clerical and administrative support to the Manager and/or Supervisor(s) of a Hydro Watershed organization. The First Hydro Clerk position may include duties that are physical in nature including but not limited to work in a warehouse environment and use of a fork-lift.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This position is subject to collectively bargained hourly wage rates and increases. The starting wage rate for this position is $50.13 per hour. This wage rate is specific to the locality of the job. The wage rate is based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. ​

Job Responsibilities

  • Uses computer to meet assigned responsibilities for timekeeping, payroll, purchasing, commercial card, records, and job accounting administration.

  • Transcribes written reports and correspondence as needed.

  • Compiles and produces reports pertaining to employee training and company vehicle history.

  • Records accounting transactions and prepares SAP cost reports.

  • Responsible for maintaining records of various required permits, training and safety records, and job estimates.

  • May use personal or company vehicle for off-site errands such as mail delivery and materials pick up, as well as travel to other offices.

  • Provide support with phone coverage and in-coming & out-going mail duties

  • Maintains storage facility that warehouses construction materials. Organizes and maintains inventory of stocked items. Receives deliveries and forwards packing slips for goods receipts.

  • Maintains hazardous waste records system and ensures that all hazardous waste materials are properly stored and secured in the designated hazardous waste storage area(s). Coordinates removal of hazardous waste materials from the designated storage area(s).

  • Maintains office facility that warehouses construction PPE and supplies. Organizes and maintains inventory of stocked items. Receives deliveries and forwards these deliveries to the appropriate department. Organize the scheduling of use for the bull rooms when need for meetings. Organizes the use of the Clubhouse Conference center for scheduling meetings and overnight occupancies.

  • Performs inspections within the Office, Warehouse and Clubhouse per SAP Maintenance schedules.

  • Perform escorting for non-Watershed visitors performing work within the watershed.

  • During certain operational tasks that may require a second person to be on site for safety action plans the First Hydro Clerk may perform this task.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience

  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License

  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes

  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions

  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Must be able to wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds a minimum of one time a day

  • Demonstrated technical skills and experience with Microsoft Office products and programs

Desired:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP

  • Demonstrated work experience with payroll duties

  • Demonstrated work experience with purchasing

  • Demonstrated work experience with creating contract purchase orders

  • Previous PG&E experience
