The Manager – Generation Construction is a construction management professional responsible for overseeing the construction and execution of large capital projects within the generation power plant fleet. Achieves results by directing, overseeing, coordinating and maintaining a construction management team that works within existing project teams and follows Cleco’s Project Delivery System. Responsible for the performance and development of high-level technical employees with construction management responsibilities.
Provides leadership, influences change while driving the overall execution of their work plan required to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation objectives. Ensures this work plan is centric and in line with broader corporate objectives.
Direct business expectations and perceptions and support ongoing two-way communication to ensure alignment with corporate strategies, priorities and governance focused on achieving operational productivity.
Oversee and manage the portfolio of projects through assessment of benefits, risks and costs aligned with of the business strategy of Cleco.
Achieves results by planning and managing activities, procedures and resourcing. Contributes to complex projects necessitating the application of new and unique approaches.
Owns and oversee the development of governance, standards, procedures, processes and metrics frameworks ensuring alignment with broader corporate expectations.
Serves as escalation point for staff to report risks to delivery, ensuring business expectations, goals and objectives are understood and met across project teams.
Oversees and manages the performance of project teams. Lead and guide the work of technical staff, monitor progress, develop their skills and hold them accountable to defined project milestones.
Provides project teams with guidance and resources for project needs.
Serves as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical staff.
Interacts and influence Director level management on a regular basis to proactively support business objectives both within their sub function and across the overall function.
Provide training and opportunities for staff to add value to the department and to the company.
Responsible for leading project teams through highly complex objectives, milestones, obstacles and priorities while focusing on delivering mid to long term sub function plans.
Manage project work progress, so that other Managers and Directors are able to track against towards overall functional corporate goals.
(Required Education, Skills & Experience)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
5+ years of related experience
2-5+ years people management experience, preferred
PE Certification, preferred
