As a Distribution Automation Engineer at Cleco you will be designing and building automation that will create a State of the Art distribution grid. You will connect field devices via SCADA to our Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) to improve the safety and operational efficiency of our distribution grid. You will add field devices to automation schemes to automatically restore power and locate issues on our distribution network. The foundation that you will create today will pave the path for tomorrows distribution grid of renewable power and distributed generation while ushering in the age of the true Smart Grid.
Develops, tests, and implements applications to extend functionality of the ADMS and automation logic to improve the safety and operational efficiency of Cleco’s distribution grid
Hold design reviews and create proper documentation to insure safe and effective operation of all utilized systems
Train internal customers such as the Distribution Operation Center and field operations on all applicable systems and processes
Identify and analyze failures and mis-operations of systems and field devices
Works with Distribution Operations and ESM personnel to quickly resolve issues
Monitor and improve operations of the ADMS and automation logic

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum
3-5 years related experience preferred
FE Certification preferred
