Summary

SRP is seeking an Electrical Engineer to assist in the management of SRP's electric system model. The selected candidate will develop and validate transmission system power flow base cases and models; perform technical studies such as power flow, short circuit, post-transient or dynamic analysis. Provide support of and enhancement to modeling and analysis tools. Responsibilities may include representing SRP in regional planning organizations or other industry committees.

What You'll Do

  • Maintenance of SRP's transmission system model

  • Maintenance of short circuit model using ASPEN OneLiner

  • Completion of studies using GE's PSLF of PowerWorld

  • Participation in industry groups that lead the change in power system modeling

  • Development of planning cases that support long-term and near-term studies

  • Participation in SRP's capital planning efforts

  • Participation in cross-functional strategic efforts that improve efficiencies within the organization

  • Analyze NERC and WECC regulatory requirements to ensure compliance

  • Develop and document planning processes, and develop and present training materials

  • Represent SRP in regional planning organizations or other industry committees

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Interest in and understanding of programming languages is highly preferred.

  • Understanding and ability to work with database structures is a plus.

  • Knowledge of the planning, construction, maintenance, and/or operation of the SRP power delivery system is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desired. develop and document planning processes, and develop and present training materials. An understanding of and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products is required. Excellent collaboration skills are a must.

  • Familiarity with General Electric's Positive Sequence Load Flow (PSLF) program or other modeling software is preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years full time experience actively engaged in engineering practice. Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work of the nature defined for the job of Senior Engineer.

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years of experience at Level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years of experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Education

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution, ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) or any state or internationally recognized PE registration.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
