Job Brief

Prepares and evaluates written materials to promote internal SRP strategic goals, programs and other efforts. Serves as the main storyteller and editor for SRP’s internal employee magazine. Provides complete communications consulting services to internal business partners, including strategy development, high-level and tactical planning, and messaging development. Builds creative briefs and other strategic documents, writes original communications, and supports corporate and departmental goals and objectives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements communications strategies and plans to achieve corporate and departmental goals.

  • Collaborates with internal communications team members to plan, research, write and edit content for SRP’s biweekly internal employee magazine, its related elements (photo, video, design, etc.) and related corporate information channels, requiring excellent news judgment, creativity and accuracy.

  • Develops and manages relationships with business partners to build trust and understand their concerns, requirements and priorities.

  • Serves as an advisor to internal business partners – including executive management and other leaders across the organization – on crafting and driving communications strategy and asset development.

  • Collaborates with, and may take a leadership role, in SRP cross-functional teams.

  • Directs internal communications support functions in the development and implementation of internal SRP communications.

  • Collaborates with other teams in the Community, Communications and Marketing organization to write appropriate copy for strategic programs, events, brand initiatives, marketing activities and other communications.

  • Anticipates changes in the power and water industries as well as best practices across large organizations in order to develop and recommend communications strategies that enable SRP and the communities it serves to thrive in the future.

  • Analyzes data from multiple communications platforms to turn high-level strategies into effective tactical plans that engage employees and achieve long-term corporate goals.

  • May write speeches, scripts, copy and other materials as needed for SRP leaders and priority programs

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Promotion to Level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at Level 1 and demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to Senior Level requires a minimum of three years experience at Level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities.

Professional communicator, including in corporate communications, news reporting or editing for a media company (newspaper, magazine, business publication, etc.), public relations in either a corporate or agency environment, or other business communications.

Additional Information

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or Public Relations preferred.

This Position is multi-level with preference give to those with a minimum of 5 years' experience.

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
