Job Brief

The Facilities Project Manager conducts project management activities including planning and engineering coordination, procurement, administration, and construction management of projects assigned. This position is specifically directed to managing those projects that include a high technical challenge, possibly high costs, and projects with the capabiity to interrupt SRP business activities or the ability to deliver water and power to our customers. Develops and implements standard and specific projects and procedures and reports and directs activities of staff support functions and requirements to support projects and budgets.

In addition to existing project management job duties, the candidate analyzes, investigates, develops, recommends, implements, and manages the Facilities & MCM sustainability programs including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, maintenance and deployment, energy and water efficiency programs and plans, MCM tool sustainability roadmap, facilities solar array implementation and management, as well as assigned specialty projects. The candidate will lead the Facilities Sustainability Governance Team and is responsible for the development and implementation of Facilities & MCM sustainability projects and programs.

This individual contributes to the development of broad based, companywide, strategic sustainability initiatives and integrates sustainability throughout all Facilities managed assets. Ensures that Facilities sustainability efforts enhance business performance and support the long-term interests of SRP.

Job Responsibilities

  • Directs the activities of architects, engineers, designers, technicians, and contractors responsible for designing, constructing, and modifying support facilities.

  • Provides technical and procedural advice to architects, engineers, designers, technicians, and contracts to ensure successful completion of projects with minimal charges.

  • Proposes and implements changes to design, construction and procedural standards used to modify and improve SRP property and assets.

  • Maintains and checks for consistent standards and specifications to ensure that project activities are performed consistently within SRP's standards and specifications.

  • Ensures compliance within federal, city, state, and company regulations.

  • Proposes and implements schedules to complete a variety of projects for facilities consistent with standards, specifications, requirements, and funds available. Provides reports on project progress and milestones.

  • Maintains and checks for consistent standards and specifications to ensure that project activities are performed consistently within SRP.

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, city, and company regulations, codes, and standards.

  • Manages the procurement and award of consultant, equipment, and construction contracts per SRP procurement guidelines with direct recommendation responsibility on decisions in planning and implementation stages.

  • Develops and administers project manpower programs to utilize external and internal resources in the best interest of SRP while meeting project assignment objectives.

  • Obtains and retains sufficient object perspective to perform in an environment of little precedent, high stress, and few established procedures.

  • Assumes a leadership role in SRP cross-functional sustainability teams. Establishes goals and associated action items; develops agendas and facilitates meetings; encourages and facilitates a team approach to achieving desired outcomes.

  • Acts as the primary interface to sustainability stakeholders and communicates using standard reporting formats, milestones, metrics, and produces accurate and timely status reports

  • Establishes and nurtures strategic partnerships with external entities (ASU, WEI, IFMA, LEED, etc.) to strengthen our stewardship of natural resources, aligns internal sustainability programs with our customers’ and communities’ priorities

Education

Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

Experience

Promotion to level 2 requires a minimum of two years experience at level 1; demonstrated capability to perform advanced and more difficult work as determined by the supervisor. Promotion to senior level requires a minimum of three years experience at level 2; is fully competent in all aspects of functional area of assignment and as such would be recognized as a specialist in area of assignment and may have periodic or occasional lead responsibilities. A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience is required for the Senior level.

Additional Information

Needs to understand general facilities business operations and strategic planning and how to integrate knowledge of each in developing solutions to meet business needs. Knowledge of sustainability programs, carbon reduction strategies, and water reduction methodologies is a plus.

Ideal candidate will have experience in project management and knowledge of sustainability/renewable energy topics. Policies relating to climate change and sustainability are evolving rapidly. Renewable technologies and renewable energy credits are complex products and require sophisticated marketing plans that are highly specialized. Non-traditional and creative methodologies are required to enable success with SRP’s 2035 sustainability goals.

  • Demonstrates proactive management style and has ability to connect with multiple reporting relationships

  • Possesses business, analytical, technical and process skills and has the ability to use technical tools required for the job (SAP, Maximo, Power BI, Excel, Auto CAD, Project Wise)

  • Has strong teamwork, interpersonal and communications skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in easily understood business terms at all management levels

  • Competency in developing solutions to diverse/complex business problems

  • Executive level presentations required.
