Summary

Power Procurement Analyst / Analyst, Senior - Develops purchase power agreements and other legal contracts, documents, and correspondence as required for the procurement of both conventional and renewable resources.

What your day would be like:

You are responsible for:

  • Ensure that Company positions are reflected in contract terms and conditions across the broad spectrum of resource technologies.

  • Participate in the RFP development and evaluation process to ensure smooth transition from bid proposals to the process of negotiation of PPAs.

  • Maintain the department contract database, including contract support analysis and documentation Interfaces with multiple APS departments to develop specific contract terms and conditions related to credit issues, system operation requirements and other commercial procurement needs.

  • Participate in, and may lead, cross- functional reviews of contracts and related documentation and assists in preparation of regulatory or management requests for information.

  • Provide training of assigned areas of expertise.

Minimum Requirements

Power Procurement Analyst

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or Finance AND 3-5 years experience and knowledge of power purchase agreements (PPA) and other energy contract requirements, contract language, business law applications, and business principles, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Detailed knowledge of (PPA) terms and conditions related to transmission and interconnection requirements, risk management and credit concerns, settlement process, damage provisions, and power scheduling procedures.

  • Detailed understanding of the differing application of contract terms across a broad spectrum of technology specific contracts.

  • Must have ability to analyze contract problems, establish priorities and make sound conclusions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent skills in using Companys' word processing and database software programs.

    Power Procurement Analyst, Senior

  • Bachelors degree in Business, Engineering or Finance and minimum five (5) years advanced experience and knowledge of power purchase agreements (PPA) and other energy contract requirements, contract language, business law applications, and business principles, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Detailed knowledge of (PPA) terms and conditions related to transmission and interconnection requirements, risk management and credit concerns, settlement process, damage provisions, and power scheduling procedures.

  • Detailed understanding of the differing application of contract terms across a broad spectrum of technology specific contracts.

  • Must have ability to analyze contract problems, establish priorities and make sound conclusions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent skills in using Companys' word processing and database software programs.

  • Prefer to have some ability in the areas of project management, negotiation and contract development, business law principles and economic and financial analysis techniques.

  • Good interpersonal communication skills are essential.

Major Accountabilities

1) Develops and administers PPAs and related energy contracts ensuring strict compliance with company policies, procedures and practices, as well as regulatory compliance. Works closely and supports those leading contract negotiations.

2)Coordinates with the multiple APS departments including Legal, Power Contracts, Credit, Operations and various back office personnel to gather information and formulate contract terms and conditions.

3)Actively manage the Power Procurement milestone database after contract execution and work with negotiators in tracking compliance of such milestones.

4) Act as the main interface for the department for the E-docs filing system.

5) Interfaces with negotiators and legal counsel to create and utilize standard contract terms and conditions while improving contract quality, turnaround time and overall productivity.

6) Participate in dispute resolution and the preparation of formal correspondence related to contract administration to ensure complete and equitable administration of complex contracts.

7) Participates in the contract administration and monitoring process by monitoring production and cost data and verifying invoices, calculations, and charges are consistent with contract terms and conditions.

8) Translate complex negotiated terms, conditions and pricing into contract language.

9) Prepare and modify contracts required by negotiating team representatives on a timely basis.

10) Responsible for contract draft routing and obtaining comments and, using good judgment, incorporates internal and external comments into contracts.

11) Maintain departments contract database.

12) Protect the Companys rights and minimize exposure to unique liabilities, finance risks and potential legal actions through utilization of good business skills for preparation of special or custom contract terms, conditions and provisions.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work. Employees will have two options to choose from:

· APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

· Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
