Summary

Responsible for the performance and results of the Credit and Revenue Operations teams including customer assistance programs, revenue recovery, payment management and commercial customers. Ensures efficient and effective processes and standards for the function.

Leads and develops individuals and teams by using people management processes and tools that involve staffing, training, supervising, coaching, and performance management to achieve optimal performance. Resolves complex operational issues and recommends and implements viable alternatives and solutions. Support teams to achieve superior performance and service and to meet business goals.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS in Business, Finance, Marketing or related degree or equivalent work experience plus eight (8) years' experience in the utility industry, Accounting, Finance, and/or credit and collections environment.

In lieu of Bachelor's degree, high school diploma/GED plus twelve (12) years of related education and working experience typically found in utility industry, Accounting, Finance, and/or credit and collections environment.

A Master's degree may substitute for one (1) years experience.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

Leadership experience involving planning, organizing, directing and evaluating the work and performance of subordinates.

Working knowledge of rate applications, electric metering, billing procedures, customer information systems and ACC Rules and Regulations. Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with all levels of personnel and other departments.

Excellent communication skills; able to express ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Excellent analytical and project management skills. Adapts to changing environment and shift priorities while managing a wide-range of projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet.

Major Accountabilities

1) Establish the overall administrative and operating standards across credit and revenue operations including setting goals and objectives and directing workflow procedures.

2) Select and develop a high performing team through effective coaching, performance feedback, recognition, training and developmental opportunities. Actively seeks to improve own skills and knowledge to apply to current and emerging business and technical environment.

3) Develop and direct the company policies for the collection of receivables to minimize the exposure to write-offs on residential and commercial customer accounts.

4) Identify and solve interdepartmental and intradepartmental issues to maximize cost effectiveness and contribute to the APS competitive advantage.

5) Initiate corrective actions and monitor progress including personnel counseling, team facilitation and positive confrontation to ensure successful individual and team performance.

6) Prepare, recommend and oversee development of operating budgets. Monitor spending for adherence to budget; plans, develops and recommends plans to address variances. Continually improves department work processes and maintain reports monitoring team performance as well as budgets.

7) Stay abreast of and effectively communicate industry, corporate and departmental changes.

Flex Role:

This position is not required to be performed at a specific APS facility as long as adequate technology and a solid ergonomic set up are present. Pending agreement with leadership, employees hired into this role will be able to choose where they prefer to perform their work, but the ultimate decision is the company's. Employees will have two options to choose from:

  • APS office based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from an APS facility.

  • Home based: The employee prefers to work most of the time from his/her home.

*Employees in Flex roles are required to reside in Arizona (or NM for Four Corners-based employees). Role types are subject to change based on business need.
