Job Brief
Under direction of manager of media relations, this role serves as official spokesperson for SRP on a wide variety of planned, unplanned and emergency issues when needed; proactively builds and maintains relationships with key media outlets, reporters and stakeholders; identifies and executes strategies on key initiatives and information to support customers and achieve organizational goals; fosters strong relationships with numerous SRP departments and leaders to ensure timely and accurate information.
Job Responsibilities
Plans, develops and executes media outreach strategies and crisis response in collaboration with Community, Communications and Marketing team, executive leadership and subject matter experts.
Seeks opportunities to proactively share information with local and national media.
Serves as an official spokesperson and liaison between SRP and news media on various issues.
Conducts media training and supports SRP subject matter experts during media interviews and presentations to external groups.
Prepares position statements, news releases, talking points and other media materials on SRP programs, products, services and policies.
Responds to questions about SRP from news media, both during and after normal duty hours and on weekends and holidays as scheduled or required.
Initiates regular in-person contacts with local news media to maintain positive relationships.
Assists in monitoring, tracking and sharing media coverage.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of related experience in public relations and demonstrated experience working directly with media outlets.
Additional Information
Bi-lingual Spanish speaking preferred.
Annual salary begins at $78,000 to $105+ depending on experience.

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
