Utility Plant Technician- Instrumentation
Operates and observes instruments which record or indicate heating value, specific gravity, temperature pressure in a plant
Makes daily tabulation of observed and reported readings; also performs independently minor and routine testing, adjusting and repairs of plant instruments
Ability to set-up and calibrate pneumatic instruments
Capable of trouble-shooting Distributed Control Systems and related equipment, inclusive of smart transmitters
Must be capable of using microprocessor based portable calibration systems for electronic signal simulation and electronic component testers used to troubleshoot and identify failed electronic components on hardware applications
Make verbal and written reports of results for instrument operations, inspections and maintenance
Must be qualified to operate Test Stations
Must have the ability to climb
Some knowledge of blueprints and must be able to follow through completely on routine and repetitive assignments
Direct Junior Technicians as required; performs all task of the Junior Technician
Performs duties of a Senior Technician under direct or indirect supervision of a Supervisor, Working foreman or Senior Tech as part of craft skill development
Responsible for safe performance of job assignments, maintenance of good housekeeping conditions on work location
Installs fixtures and equipment; locates and repairs trouble on circuits, cleans and replaces lights, fuses, etc. and may work on charged low voltage lines within the limits of safe practice
Removes and installs valves/regulators 4 inches and under
Paints instrument/electrical equipment and supports
Installs simple supports for instruments and electrical equipment
Installation of fiber optic cable
Service and repair fire control/detection systems, fire and gas detectors
Installs telephones and telephone wiring
Operates company vehicles to and from job sites
Must have a valid driver's license
Must possess CDL license to operate some company vehicles
Must pass computer, written and hands-on demonstrated skills test
