Philadelphia Gas Works Internship - Energy Efficiency & Emerging Customer Programs in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a Junior classification or above ONLY.

Research Projects

  • Ongoing review on national gas energy efficiency programs

  • Program designs

  • Targeted measures

  • Incentive levels

  • Marketing practices

  • Updated catalog of relevant Philadelphia housing & weatherization programs

  • Review of new customer service program opportunities

  • Research best practices

  • Compilation of program materials

  • Program marketing and participation

Data Analysis

  • Low income weatherization program activity data analysis

  • Philadelphia demographics & PGW customer data to inform targeted marketing

  • Refining DSM marketing outreach databases for targeted outreach

  • Ongoing participant source/referrals analysis and reporting

  • Analysis of new data sets collected for research of the Emerging Customer Programs


  • Assistance in development of communication materials

  • Identifying key outreach partners & stakeholders

  • Analyze submissions and develop survey for landlords to inform outreach plan for residential equipment

  • Analyze data from recent marketing campaigns to identify trends and inform strategy

  • Outreach to customers whose rebates were rejected to request additional documents and resubmissions

Strategic Partnerships

  • Research of landlord organizations and property management firms

  • Analyze data and identify potential projects for the Low Income Multifamily Efficiency (LIME) program

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or other related field and currently enrolled in Graduate School OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or other related field of study as a Junior or Senior

  • Must have verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees

  • Must have interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others in the best interest of PGW while maintaining professional effective business relationships

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Must have problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to develop creative solutions to delicate issues

  • Must be self-starter with the ability to work independently and exercise sound business judgment, with limited supervision

  • Strong leadership, verbal, written and interpersonal skills

  • Must have organizational management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and usually under short deadlines
