Internship - Maintenance & Planning/Construction - Field Operations Department

Maintenance Section:

• Damage Prevention

o Place one calls electronically

o Upload violation reports to Pennsylvania Utility Commission website

o Update excel document to bill contractors that damages PGW facilities

o Notify Supervisors when Damage Report paperwork is do

o Q/A - Q/C for software updates

o Take minutes for quarterly damage prevention committee

• Service Abandonment

o Assign jobs to contractor

o Audit and finalize abandons in AIMS computer system

o Track and update metrics for in house abandon crews

o Make sure one calls are in compliance prior to putting work in the queue

• Leak Survey

  o Review blocks of high-risk mains to verify they are still active

o Assign work orders to technicians

o Compile stats and metrics for completion time

o Review Daily production of blocks surveyed, and leaks entered

• Leak Inventory and Dispatch

o Add facility type and structure to all open leaks

o Match facility type with priority of leak

o Update work completed on excel logs

o Type up emergency incident reports

Construction/Planning Section:

• Tracking Permits

o Apply for and track permit applications for City and State Highway Openings

o Monitor and resolve conflicts as necessary

• Utility Clearance Responses

o Assist in the review of external designs to identify potential conflicts with gas facilities

o Respond to Utility Clearance Requests

o Complete forms and response letters

• Main Replacement Design

o Assist in the review of materials, services, pipe installation and abandonment footages

o Initiate and complete AIMS work orders, such as entering locations, tie-in data, account numbers, etc.

o Assist in the completion of bid forms, cost estimation, and other contract documents

o Track and update metrics for drafting

• Project Close Out

o Review as-builds to verify ADA ramp disturbance

o Assist in the review and approval of Police invoices

o Assist in submitting Alleged Violation Reports to the PUC

o Close permits after the completion of construction projects

• Be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college;

• Have a sophomore classification or above;

• Be in good academic standing;

• Proficient with MS Office; with an emphasis in MS Excel

• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
