Position Scope:

Applies knowledge of maintenance repair techniques and project management processes to lead a team of project managers in the execution of work plans and projects. Manages implementation of assigned work plans to facilitate quality, cost effective and safe execution. Provides daily reports which include high level notes of job status, issues encountered, schedule and financial impacts. Adept in work management best practices and can apply them. Effectively uses CMMS, purchasing, and financial software to meet work management process requirements. Assess job hazard analyses for maintenance tasks and provides appropriate feedback (LOTO, hot work, confined space, etc.) for execution of work.

Basic Requirements:

  • Degreed candidates must have two (2) years of recent verifiable related experience

  • Non-degreed candidates must have five (5) years of recent verifiable related experience

  • Must be willing to travel to other AES facilities, conferences and vendor repair facilities

  • Willingness to perform in a leadership role in both a union and non-union environment

  • Ensures adherence to all AES safety policies

Preferred Skills:

  • Project management certification

  • Experience in the planning/performance of combustion turbine maintenance

  • Experience in the planning/performance of power plant mechanical or electrical system maintenance

  • Experience with SAP or other computerized maintenance management system

  • Experience with Primavera or other scheduling software

  • Experience directing contractors performing power plant maintenance activities

  • Experience with cost and schedule control throughout project execution

  • Experience and training with industrial QAQC inspections and procedures

  • Working knowledge of industry work management best practices as related to power plants

  • Willing to participate as a member of applicable User Groups

  • Effective organizational skills with commitment to deadlines

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated individual with a positive attitude

  • Strong interpersonal, technical, financial, and estimating/planning skills or experience

  • Strong computer skills with knowledge in Microsoft Office and Primavera or other scheduling software applications

  • Team player with the willingness and ability to learn/teach

  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing business needs

  • Ability to lead skilled project managers executing multiple projects with the same completion goals.

  • Ability to support a 24/7 operation at multiple locations

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Thoroughly review work orders to ensure that all steps are included and estimated properly

  • Initiates capital project authorizations

  • Ensure assigned outages are forecasted and accrued per assignment

  • Work closely with project cost analyst to monitor outage cost development leading up to outages, and real-time spend during outages

  • Support development of resource-loaded, logical critical-path outage schedules with the outage scheduler

  • Ensure that all necessary stakeholders provide input to create ownership and a realistic work plan

  • Drive and monitor outage progress by using the schedule as a primary project management tool

  • Enhances technical knowledge through participation in various user group forums and conferences

  • Foster outage safety culture through consistent support and application of AES safety policies and initiatives, driving for zero incident mentality for all outage participants

  • Verifies and approves contractor timesheets

  • Resolves various conflicts as they arise to keep projects moving forward

  • Manage contractors to ensure appropriate manpower staffing per job along with adequate productivity

  • Ensure outages and projects are properly closed and logged

  • Mentor project managers in work scope execution utilizing schedule and cost controls

  • Ensures project managers are implementing QAQC industry best practices

  • Prepares project and scheduled outage maintenance reports

  • Identify and document lessons learned

  • Performs in a supervisory role for both union and non-union labor (contractor and internal)
