ENGINEER (Substation Maintenance)

About The Position

The Engineer provides technical support to substation maintenance personnel on maintenance problems .

Key responsibilities include:

  • Perform quarterly analysis of outages/maintenance/testing results to identify any adverse trends, initiate corrective actions including maintenance strategy revision, modification or development of capital replacement programs, or corrective maintenance actions and initiatives.

  • Review and manage Substation Assets conditions via APM software ensuring proactive guidance to maintenance personnel.

  • Manage the spare parts list and spare equipment levels for the assigned equipment.

  • Manage equipment levels in Stores with min/max levels for the assigned SME equipment.

  • Assist Supervising Engineer by providing budget requirements for C55/Budgets.

  • Provide engineering and technical support for substation equipment to ensure its reliable operation.

  • Perform the required engineering design work for emergencies, or work together with the appropriate design engineering groups and effectively return the system to normal operating conditions.

  • Create SWOs as needed and track the costs associated with each project.

  • Complete final reports on of event investigations on failed equipment.

  • Engineering review for all commissioning and preventative maintenance testing results as-required and issuance of any corrective maintenance activities within 90 days of tests performed.

  • Review and monitor NERC Battery and Breaker PMs on a quarterly basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required.

  • Two or more years of utility experience with specific knowledge of substation equipment such as transformers, switchgear and breakers preferred.

Location based on the successful candidate.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in Windows-based software such as SQL and Excel preferred.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and craft personnel.

  • Good analytical, decision-making and human relations skills required.
