Position Specific Description

This role will support siting and permitting of all new FPL Substations and expansions in the Northwest Florida area, including:

  • Site selection and acquisition

  • Public/community outreach

  • Permitting

  • Zoning and land use approvals including presenting at public hearings and to community groups

  • Site/Land development approvals

  • Construction support, compliance oversight, and project closeout

**The main location is in Panama City, but could be filled throughout the FPL territory.

Job Overview

Employees in this role lead multiple cross-functional project teams consisting of matrixed or direct reporting relationships to meet or exceed Transmission and Substation safety, reliability, financial, and schedule goals while ensuring compliance with all environmental and regulatory requirements for assigned company projects. Individuals generate product schedules based on stakeholder input and maintains adherence to them to meet in service dates. This position is responsible for reviewing actual spend compared to forecast spend based on project schedule progress for assigned projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Coordinates with project engineering, construction leads, transmission system planning, as well as other departments throughout the company

• Develops and updates project schedules, budget forecasts, and cash flows

• Leads meetings associated with assigned projects

• Updates business unit leadership on project status

• Assesses potential Transmission and Substation projects for feasibility

• Receives coaching from higher level project managers and management

• Communicates project specifications to internal and external personnel at all levels

• Manages multiple complex projects successfully at any given time

• Acts as project sponsor for Total Safety Culture for assigned project teams

• Meets attendance and storm duty requirements

• Works extended hours, as needed

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High School Grad / GED

• Bachelor's - Engineering

• Experience:5+ years

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management Professional (PMP)
