Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy is currently seeking a Regional IT/OT Support Leader who can apply diversified knowledge of industrial automation, networking, SCADA/DCS, and server virtualization principles to leading a geographically diverse team of technicians and technical experts that execute a broad variety of assignments supporting renewable power generation. This position is responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing assignments supporting wind turbine, solar and battery storage site-level SCADA communication, IT/OT equipment health and performance, as well as operational data acquisition and reporting functions. The successful candidate will have a sense of accountability and urgency required to make informed decisions regarding safety, regulatory compliance, system integrity, and scope complexity under limited supervision.
Job Overview:
Employees in this position are responsible for maintaining overall SCADA availability and performance, IT/OT equipment health and performance, and operational data flow for NextEra renewable generation assets.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Leads by example while providing oversight to production support teams in daily operations, preventative maintenance, reliability checks, and enhancement projects
Acts as a technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization. Functions well with limited direction regarding technical matters pertaining site SCADA applications as well as supporting equipment and networks
Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations
Coordinates site and remote technical support to operations and business unit personnel on proper use and care of hyperconverged network servers and applications, switches, firewalls, radios, UPS’s, PLC’s, RTU’s, metering, optical fiber and copper media
Establishes, modifies, and maintains procedures/guidelines supporting controls and electrical SCADA systems
Monitors and resolves infrastructure performance, application connectivity, and security related issues utilizing specialized network diagnostic equipment and software
Assists in the preparation of labor and materials estimates, reviews bids, and assists in overseeing contracted services
Displays strong communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced operational environment
Drives ownership of health & safety in work and personal life
Ability to diagnose and repair complex computer and OT communication system trouble as related to power system operation
Can understand, apply and troubleshoot common network, database, protocol and application issues
Travels to renewable generation and meteorological sites occasionally to oversee or perform onsite troubleshooting, repair and upgrades
Qualifications:
Technical / Functional Excellence/Learning
Effective Written and Verbal Communications
Formal training in Electronics, Control Systems, programming, Windows or UNIX, and Networking or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for success in the position
Experience: 5+ years
Supervisor/Management Experience: 2+ years
Desired Qualifications:
Process Management Concepts
Bachelor of Science degree
Quality Tools and Techniques – Six Sigma Green Belt or above
Working experience with SCADA applications, RTU’s, and PLC’s
Background in PLC/RTU logic development and troubleshooting
Experience with server virtualization environments and management
Experience with Modbus, OPC, DNP3 and SQL
Working experience with IP based Fiber, Ethernet and Serial networks
Working knowledge of power and voltage regulation fundamentals
